I think this moment was so real and reminds us all why mma is so fucking badass, some fight for money and fame, but the real martial artists fight for pride, honor, legacy and respect.

Izzy didnt respect Alex earlier in his career, when he trashed Alex unnecesarily and unprovokedly in an interview treating him like a random washed up has been talking up his past glories in a bar...

but Alex saw that interview, chased him into a foreign sport, hunted him down won his way up the ladder and finally earned that respect from Izzy with his fists.

Izzy should learn a valuable lesson from all this, a big mouth and ego can get you into problems in life. Always stay humble champ.

Izzy said energies dont mix...but this is more a matter of cause and effect, for every action there is a reaction.

Anyways just wishing for another masterpiece of a fight, ARE YOU PUMPED UP FOR THIS REMATCH? ONLY 6 MORE DAYS

Fight week! @HI SCOTT NEWMAN :D

I didn't really follow to much of the press conferences and interviews leading up to their previous fight

Do these two guys have very bad blood? Like Jones DC or Conor Khabib etc? Or is it more friendly rivalry

I do remember Izzy saying some nasty things about Alex though

"I don't like him because our energies don't mix" <BC1>

I don't like Izzy but he took the loss well and spits a lot of truth... not that he had much choice...

other that that "oh the parenial nerve in my leg" Conor sounding excuses afterwards.
Not sure he took it well... He was immediately saying it was an early stoppage and his nerve was damaged in the leg....

The only thing I want to say is that Israel didn't trash talk Pereira in that interview unprovoked. Yes his words came back to bite him.

But everytime Adesanya had a victory in MMA Pereira would post his KO victory over him, with captions like Adesanya's is his son.

Now I'm not saying Pereira was wrong for doing this. It's a part of his story after all, and Pereira has to promote himself. But people act like Adesanya is the only one who taunts between the two.

But yes, it seemed that Israel didn't want to show Pereira's much respect publicly or give him any clout earlier on. I can't say Izzy was wrong for that either.

It's a healthy rivalry.

They don't have that much against each other personally but they are sworn enemies until the end of time.

It's some tribal shit.

Alex is the Yin to Izzy's Yang. Put on this earth to slay him.

Another thing I wanna add to people who say Izzy should have been more "humble". I'm sorry but that's just some goofy insecure shit to say.

For one, Adesanya doesn't cross the line to arrogance, and two, being humble would not have stopped Alex from knocking him the fuck out.

Just like it didn't stop Whittaker from getting blasted by Izzy.

Never happened. People would constantly send Adesanya the footage of him getting oxygen to troll him like Jon Jones. But Pereira never mentioned Adesanya until Adesanya starting calling him out in interviews including the infamous one where he called Pereira a drunk who likes crackwhores.

I think it is a good rivalry. Israel could have easily avoided the matchup and just let a contender beat Alex. I honestly don't think he could have got a title shot without Israel also pushing for it.

It's not an excuse though man, it's pretty clear right here. Right after Perriera checks Izzy's kick, Izzy starts to have a stutter in his step. His lateral movement is a lot more choppy and he can't even get back to the center after the clinch break like he did the whole fight previous to that moment.

Sorry to be a buzzkill but no, I'm not that excited

We just saw this fight. It ended without controversy. (despite it being just a bit of an early stoppage but yeah)

Just like Jiri vs Glover.
Just like Val vs Grasso.
Just like Leon vs Kamaru 2.

Enough of the goddamn insta-rematches because WME is too damn lazy to do actual matchmaking.

Pereira himself said he has posted it. But he also says it wasn't to taunt Israel, but that it was because it was one of his highlights.

I'll bet my bottom dollar your ass will watch it. It's not as though these two don't always have a fun fight.

Alex checked his kick and hurt Izzy's leg.

That's a part of the fight. It's probably more impressive than landing a punch.

It was Alex's plan the whole fight to go after Israel's legs, take his mobility and then knock him out. Mission accomplished.

As for this peroneal nerve nonsense, no, that was just some BS excuse making jargon Conor and Izzy were using. The only person that actually happened to was O'Malley against Chito, it completely shuts the leg down and caused him to fall down.

I'm watching it but the immediate rematches are very dull. Especially when no controversy is involved.

I'll probably watch it at the bar yeah. I'm just not super interested is all. I seriously didn't know it was even happening this early until this thread.

I get why Izzy wants it though and I agree with him... if he doesn't get the insta-rematch Alex likely loses the title and then they may never fight again.
