Both these guys did good for 3 or 4 rounds but they both got finished yet they get immediate rematches but

Volk vs islam isnt an immediate rematch? Or is islam ducking volk know

Izzy and Usman - Champions who had multiple defenses, were winning their fights until getting finished in the 5th round

Volk - Challenger who fought a competitive fight but lost a unanimous decision

apples and oranges bud

Volk is still a champ and has a division waiting for him … the rematch would be kool for fans but unnecessary in general

So every defending champ who gets knocked out is entitled to a rematch

Are you tweaking brother.
No just didn't make sense but I guess if islam lost thered be an immediate rematch just not for volk even though it was close and most fans think volk did enough.

And fuck running back to yair love the guy but he could ben fighting for the belt a long time ago let's be honest. If he has to wait that's on him.

We finally got to see a guy who can withstand the Dagestani grappling. And we want more.win or lose

Usman and Izzy were also historical long term champs in their weight class, two of the longest in UFC history. In most combat sports when you have been champ that long you earn a rematch no matter the result.

I am Izzy prob second best at MW

Both spent 3-4 years as champ. It is pretty easy to run it back especially since both were up on the cards before losing late. It isn't disrespect or anything, it is good for Leon/Alex as well as they are big interest fights. Bigger interest than fighting the next in line. It isn't about saying they were unlucky to lose or anything, just best fight to make.

Yes or if they are submitted. Anyone with multiple title defenses deserves a rematch if they lose. The UFC and most combat sports have done this for years.
idk if i’d give a rematch to just “anyone” with multiple defenses. basically if the champ was dominant in his defenses, and / or the loss is perceived as a fluke, then people are more likely to be interested in seeing it. like tyron woodley for example—he had multiple defenses, but there was nothing flukey about his loss to usman, and a lot people were just happy to have him gone. no rematch necessary.

Volk got beat, and he has a lot of work to do in 145, Islam has a lot of work to do at 155, so no to rematch unless it happens in 4 months or less from now.

Yeah but both got finished and Volk didn't. In terms of winning, a TKO/KO is the best way to secure the win. There's no controversy with the judging of rounds. There is a clear winner when there is a TKO/KO. A finish removes all doubt from the fight.

So no champion should get a rematch if they get finished, no matter what accomplishments they have until that point?

So for example, not even Anderson Silva deserved his rematch? Was Weidman / Silva 2 not the right fight to make at the time as far as for meritocracy and making the most business sense for the UFC? Regardless of how it ended.

If it was anyone besides Woodley I would of maybe gave the rematch. But if Woodley had gotten flash KOd or submitted or lost in a flukish manner I would of gave it to him for sure
