Plain and simple. He needs to improve in boxing and becoming a more powerful striker. If any fighter can successfully improve at this late stage, it's definitely Dom.

Plant his feet and throw with power. Running away to the side while flicking arm punches isn't effective striking.

He needs to become a better boxer and hit harder...

    These findings are groundbreaking.

Is it a bad idea? Not claiming to be a guru, but Cody I believe has like 40 amateur boxing matches under his belt. To me, Cruz can improve and that seems to be the area he needs practice.

Hitting harder will require he sit down, sit tight and load up a little bit, making him a stationary target which is totally against his strength style and blueprint for championships. He needs to, oddly enough, be more like Bisping (and GSP) and content to drag it out for any kind of win. It seemed like he really wanted to hurt Garbrandt when, in all honesty, he just needs to win 3 of 5 rounds which is very possibly with his style.

That's such a general observation & very obvious.

I'm sure he'z well aware of both of those thingz & developed both of those thingz as much as he can at this point.

I just want to congratulate you for "figuring out" what Cruz needs to do to beat Cody. You´re one hell of an expert and it truly shows, you simply just fiugred that out, thats seriously impressive, good on you ya. You surely got a future as a coach. Cruz needs to hire you plain and simple, you go fix it and make him ready for a potential rematch with Cody.

Im so thankful for all these shittopics with attention seeking wannabes whos experts on analyzing shit and figuring shit out aswell as being psychologist and body language experts. Thank you.

I feel like he just needed to use his jab more and throw more kicks

He definitely accomplished that but lost his belt and the salary that goes with it. Save for the Mizugaki fight, Cruz just doesn't have a power/KO style.

    That would always help.

Plus mix in wrestling more...don't get into a taunting battle/get emotional...less spinning back fists.

His body type looks like long distance runner. Not a fighters frame at all. Probably why he is hurt non stop.

Cody moves around as well but what he wanted to do and did best was planting his front foot quickly when Cruz jumped into range and counter bomb Cruz's arm-punch hooks.

The way to typically engage that is to jab/straight to the body/head with single shots and finish the combo with a kick, but not all the time since it becomes a pattern to read.

So I agree since he already has these tools, it's to rather implement them to his gameplan and not just single low kick, exit and then jump in with hooks to be countered.

"Power" runs counter to Cruz's style. The most glaring flaw in his whole game are his punches from a technical aspect. He needs to throw tighter, sharper strikes instead of these long, looping ones. Garbrandt was able to throw 2-3 punches for every one of Cruz's. He tightens up his game, and he'd spend far less time actually throwing his strikes, which means less time to be countered.

He needs to tattoo his entire neck so that his face looks like a penis.
