Its the referees job to end the round, not for the fighter to hear the buzzer.

How many besides me blamed GDR for hitting Holly after the bell far too often after the bell? Once maybe accident, twice, OK thats ridiculous...
Apparently GDR isn't at much fault after all. Contrary to popular belief the fighters responsibility to discontinue fighting once the buzzer sounds at the end of a round is apparently not the case. Its actually the Referees job to step in between the fighters at the sound of the buzzer to discontinue action in which the fighter STILL should defend themselves at ALL TIMES.

That is the main reason for the clack that is heard when there are 10 seconds remaining in a round. That way the referee has time to begin to prepare the to close the distance to the competitors and, when the horn finally sounds, get in between them physically and also shouts something verbally to halt the action.

Of course each referee has their own feelings on how they go abouts enforcing certain rules with warnings ect. is all depending on a case to case basis.

If you hear the bell and keep fighting, that's dirty

" protect yourself at all times " it's greasy out there.

Unless you're Matt Hamill the fighter has a responsibility to hear the bell.

On an unrelated note I wonder how hard it is for his corner men to fight the urge to yell out instructions to him during his fights. I can barely stop myself from yelling out instructions at the tv during fights. It's dumb, but its my life.

Maybe they should get a permission to enter the octagon and make eye contact with him, so he could see their lips moving.

Yes Most referees WILL give a warning for the first offense but even after a second, no action has to be taken if the referee decides not to. Herb Dean gave a very great interview not too long ago on the MMA hour explaining lots of things I wasn't aware of. Many of what contradicts that of whats on the list you provided. In fact, its referees discretion to abide by any rule or regulation once the cage door closes. Such as when Commentators yell for NO TIME OUTS ALLOWED, that may be true, but a referee can decide to do so and if a fighter feels that it is unwarranted he can challenge that after the fight with the commision.

Thats why Matt Hamill is the GOAT LHW of all time. Only one with a win of Jon Jones, and he has all his other wins without being coached throughout his fight. (speculation)

Now all that's left to do is a catchweight between Gadelha and de Randamie. No bells needed, they'll decide when the round is over. Kinda like Palhares decides when the fight is over, and doesn't let the opponent's taps or referee's frantic pleas get in the way.

Ya I'm sure if his coaches could yell out instructions they would have been saying "Ya Matt keep letting him 12 to 6 elbow your face into oblivion. You're winning the fight. Now just bleed a little more and you got this."

The Ref has a lot of jobs. But seems like one fucks up every event.
