It's obvious now how much leverage McGregor has.

Usually Dana would be badmouthing a fighter for pulling the stunt that McGregor did. It is strange how Dana has nothing but good things to say about McGregor in this situation. Then when you think about how Conor has practically been getting whatever he wanted whenever he wanted, it all makes sense. There is something about Conor that makes the UFC really, really want to stay on good terms with him.

Think about it.

What did Dana do when Jon Jones refused to fight Sonnen?
What did Dana do when Nick Diaz refused to do media events?
What did Dana do when Lyoto Machida asked for Anderson Silva money?
What did Dana do when Conor McGregor refused to fight Nate Diaz, do media events AND asked for more money?

They spent a bunch of money on him.

That's all...After they recoup their investment, they will toss him in the pile like the rest of them.

conor has so much leverage that he will now not be making over ten million dollars because they pulled him off the card

until, of course, he kisses the ring

You mean they pulled him from the card just like they did Diaz? You on that retard time OP?

How can a retired fighter have leverage. there is nothing to have leverage over hahaha, he has retired from MMA.

We'll have to wait and see but I'm pretty sure Conor is coming out of this with an even better deal than before.

Why else would Dana treat him so differently?

He "retired". As if to say, "I'm not fighting anymore until I get what I think I deserve."

I'm judging, based on Dana's tone towards everything so far, that they are in negotiations and Dana doesn't want to slip up and ruin anything.

You think they are going to give a fighter who tapped out in a round an a half he biggest pay day ever? Please go on somewhere.

Yet, he'd still sell 10x the PPVs that the guy who submitted him would.

I think Mcgregor honestly does not give a fuck. He will do what he wants when he wants like a true alpha male. He is already a millionaire so he can train like GSP and get sponsors on the side or he can fight, but it will be on his terms

They would give Denis Siver that kind of money if he brought 1.5m + buys to the table. Do you have any idea at all how business works?

He doesn't have enough leverage to blow off his promotional responsibilities apparently.

Yes I know how business works and nobody wants to see him fight Diaz at 200, literally nobody was/is excited for it. He needs to go back down to 145 or get wrecked by any top 5 lw or top 10 WW. His aura will be completely squashed if he loses in the first 2 rounds again.

Conor had preferential treatment, that cannot be denied. But you also see your employer will only budge so much, regardless of how valuable you are. We talk about leverage on Conor's part, but it almost appears a though he's being made a cautionary example for those that follow by the UFC.

The fact that he just lost is irrelevant when discussing his pay, which is based entirely on drawing power and not even a tiny bit on win-loss record. Don't get why so many people are so focused on that.

To op yeah I think they're negotiating behind closed doors. If they had really decided they eren't going to budge an inch they would be throwing him under the bus already. The fact that both sides are being cordial and very quiet about this shows they are trying to reach a figure somewhere in the middle.

I don't see what leverage he has? Dana said screw you, you are off the card. He is still contractually bound to the UFC so he isn't going anywhere else and when he stops his little retirement charade he will come back and fight again.
