It's amazing how unpopular MM is compared to other fighters and champions.

MM has to build up a personality, either be a good or a bad guy.

He has to get a PR or a manager who can put him in the media, build a caracther for him.

Being a Flyweight doesn´t help at all.

He has to find a way to promote himself.
he has.
its greatness.
its just not working

125 and 135 are just not stacked in terms of talent. They're the 2 newest weight classes and thus aren't as developed. Remember, urijah Faber was one that of the best p4p when he was cleaning out a very thin division but you had to look who he was fighting. It took years to get where it is today. Same when they brought lw back in 2008, we had Joe Stevenson challenging bj for a vacant belt. It took years to get where it is. You look outside the top 2 or 3 guys in bw and flyweight and it's not as stacked as the top ten of every other weight class. Compare that to the onslaught of talent Jones and GSP had to go through to conquer their weights.

True, but that's what I like about the lower divisions. 125, 135, 145, all have a TON of hot prospects. Established divisions where the talent has already been scouted for the most part dont have a lot of influx, but have established names. For me, I like watching the formation of the true top 10/15 for these weight classes

- He is not big
- He is not charismatic
- He is not exciting while fighting

(You dont need every one, Chael only had the charismatic one. Conor is not big, Brock had not a particularly exciting fight style, but was big and charismatic, etc)

Poor MM has no one of those

He has 22k followers on Twitch. I don't think that many people would watch RDA play video games.

Not amazing at all. 125 lb male fighters? That's a freakshow. and he does nothing to promote his brand.

Yet he is the most successful champion in the UFC right now (not counting JJ for obvious reasons). Any other champion has more popularity than him, even RDA. Is the FLYW division the reason? Because even with multiple defenses under his belt nobody gives a shit about him. Even BW that isn't a popular division attracts far more attention.

He is streaming right now on Twitch for an incredible amount of 160 people.
RDA needs to work on his Twitter game.

RDA 50k
DJ 137k

Biggest aspect is MM needs a rival for people to care about him.

Also that division is shit to watch, no offense. No power, its almost like watching kids fight.

Yea cuz you know all those other champs go on the JRE and stream on Twitch every night to talk to fans

lol at this shit. What was the last thing Lawler/RDA/Rockhold etc did to promote their brand?

Some people like midget wrestling and some don't. Most don't, it would seem.

Actually some people just can't face the reality or don't want to hear about the fact that people who are smaller than themselves can easily beat them up.

Most can't take it, it seems.

Skills and training matters.

I'm sure they could take down my out of shape ass and fuck me up in a minute or so.

I'm also sure that Lawler could probably kill me with a punch. See the difference?

MM and the rest of them can kick my ass, but I still do not like midget wrestling.

How can anyone not find this entertaining?

Wow the little guy seems to be in a lower weight class.

He just said in his stream that he does not see himself fighting at 135 anytime soon and that his goal is to break Anderson's record.
Terrible goal, look at anderson he is now a footnote to conors red panty scramble. All UFC fighters should have conors mentality and try and fight heavier opponents if they want to challenge themselves.

It doesn't matter what he does. He's a victim of his weightclass. There are no super popular fighters in either FlyW or BW for that matter.

Sherdog just can't wrap their heads around this. They think MM vs Cariaso should be doing like 500k buys and anything less is because DJ doesn't market himself and is boring blah blah blah.

What I want to know is, where were these people when Aldo consistently shit the bed on PPV? He was actually fighting people that were known (at least compared to flyweights) and still dipped below 200k, yet that never became the dominant talking point whenever his name was brought up.

If you google "Mighty Mouse" this is the main result

"Here I come to save the day...."

I'm a fan of MM - he does his job quite well - I understand that not all divisions are created or viewed equally and never will be. Just is. Won't ruin my enjoyment.

It is a shame that he isn't more popular. Powerful, athletic, fast, extremely well rounded, good work ethic, genuinely a nice guy. Everything a great champion should be.
