that took down the "Goat". Granted, "efficient energy", "fighting midgets", and Diaz bro chin are taken account.

Yet, what's the first combo you learn when you step into a fight gym/Mcdojo ? The old 1-2. Jab followed by a straight or Cross. Any one who's every fought, trained, or drunken bar fight knows this combo. Too bad for Cloner fans...it was the beginning of the end for him

what? its not just a 1-2, there was lots to set that up. unless you are pro or coach you dont see the thousand little things they do for set up

Well of course. Nate fainting, throwing his right hook after every Connor bomb, etc...but Nate marched him down and tossed it. Connor thought he could eat it and thought wrong.

Okay TS....

People in drunken bar fights don't throw the jab unless they are trained fighters. They wing punches. But a straight jab and a right cross is a beautiful weapon to have if you have a reach advantage. Hell, Kltischko dominated for 10 straight years with just those weapons and a very occasional left hook.

True that. Hell Klitschko's jab was legendary as well. Boring to watch for the casual fan but was a thing of beauty. Even for shorter guys like BJ, he had an outstanding jab. He like to mix it up and follow hooks, straights off his lead jab. Just ask Sean Sherk on those.

True in bar fight , only use the left to measure distance for a big overhand right.

My first day in the gym, we learned to slap other fighers in the face.

I'm 6'4", 205#. 77" reach. Love me some 1-2, also like to step right and throw the left hook.

I think you're way oversimplifying TS, but your AV is fantastic, so I'll let it slide

I am but no need to make a long post and have a bunch of "didn't read post". I could spend all day breaking down Cloner's and Nate's foot work...but meh. Thanks. I thought my Avatar would be bitching

damn I would hate to spar you. Ever throw a kick after the 1-2 step? That's a good angle to toss it from.

It was really about tactics. Nate paces himself for a long fight and focused on rolling with the incoming shots. He still got lit up pretty bad, but he has that Diaz chin and kept going like a boss. Conor landed many good shots, but was winging full-power wannabe-KOs for the entire 1st round and did more of the same in the 2nd. He gassed. Then Nate kicked his ass.

Although, it does a lot of weird things in determining who is/isn't the better fighter.

I once had a BJJ match where my opponent quickly took my back and went for a RNC. He squeezed for everything he was worth and I hung on for dear life doing the lat pull down of extended consciousness. It seemed like a full two minutes went by and finally the guys arms pop apart like pool noodles. I tapped him out under a minute later since he coudln't do a damn thing after that.

In retrospect would I say I was the better fighter? No. He made a tactical error and I managed to win because of it.

I wonder how Nate and Conor would play out if they both had full camps preparing for each other.

I don't do much standup anymore, just groundwork and maybe work the bag a bit. But do you mean coming back with the left high kick after throwing the right? Honestly never really added that in. I did like following a turn side kick with a backfist and pancrase style slap, a pretty fluid 1-2-3, then back out to the right.

Yeah, exactly what I meant. Depending how your opponent reacts also be a good place to kick the liver and legs. However, getting hit by a side kick/backfist sucks ass. Good move and it was nice to see Holly toss it very well.

With your BJJ story, I actually thought that would happen to Meisha Tate when she tried for the first RNC. I thought she would blow her arms out. But give Meisha Credit. She hung in tough, got her second RNC and hung on for dear life.

Women's FW division is a cluster fuck right now, total rock-paer-scissors. Really exciting.

Hell yeah. In fact, I'm looking forward to Holly getting back in the cage. Her stand up is something fun to watch. Her combos are nice and smooth. Hopefully, see Cyborg get into the Mix. She's fun to watch too.
