It was stupid not to give cain a tune up fight

A plodding striker with no TD defense against a cardio machine wrestler. Seems like great match making actually, either the former champ takes out a dangerous but beatable opponent or Francis gets a good win under his belt.

Ngannou has excellent TD defense when he is fresh and pretty good footwork. The problem is he gasses, and then has no abilities off his back. Cain had to survive round one to find success.

They under estimated francis, they thought he WAS a tune up because they saw stipe ragdoll him , and cain is a better wrestler than stipe.

Big mistake.

Dana generally doesn't give guys an easy route. They are paid a certain amount and he expects them to fight tough opponents if they make big bucks. I can't totally blame him for that.

They did not. they made this fight cos either way it goes is good.

Cain is old, looks even older, and has a broken body. This was just confirmation that he should retire. He probably would have lost to a lot of HWs that night.

They also have to make him work, make him misses but the problem is when he starts throwing, one of the punch always lands. If nothing happens, the gas tank is carried over to the second round. Wondering what is the least risky way to drain his stamina, like doing exactly what Mark Coleman did against Fedor's legs in Pride 32. Lol

Where was all this tune up talk before the fight?

Cain claimed he didn't fight earlier not because of injuries, but because of contract negotiations. If he successfully raised his pay, of course the UFC won't waste him with small fights.

It took having the cautiousness and boxing defense of Stipe to avoid the worst of Ngannou's strikes and gas him out. For most of round 1 and 2 Stipe had to play a defensive game and avoid the big power shots of Ngannou. Even in round 3 Stipe struggled to take him down. The problem for Cain is he has never fought that kind of fight. He doesn't know what moving backwards and dodging strikes means. And I'm not convinced he can learn that.

You wanna know the answer?
You shouldnt be a grandpa.

Kongos punch was much harder than Ngannous, but Cains recovery was much better.

Blaydes is another guy: He thinks he cant take all the punches, but his chin isnt good, its his recovery. It doesnt matter how good your recovery is, you always have to work on your defense, because its just a matter of time, till someone makes use of it!

Watch Mark Hunt vs Blaydes ... lol. I think Blaydes was lucky, that Mark Hunt was/is old as fuck.

White gorilla Brock Lesnar wrassel fucks him back to france

It's no secret that dana hates francis and thinks "his ego is out of control" as he said in the ufc 230 post fight press conference.

That's why ngannou keeps getting matched up with these elite wrestlers ie cain, and Curtis. Dana is trying to make him lose.

Dude, Cain was hurt well before the fight and it looks VERY MUCH like he worsened the injury during the public workouts. He "slips" and his legs go screwy when he's doing glove work, and then he calls off the workout immediately. Cain entered that fight seriously injured and was just hoping he could make it to the opening bell without falling apart. It didn't matter who was in the cage with him..he was losing that fight via knee injury.

This was meant to be a tune-up fight, to remind everyone how great Cain is. To showcase him to new fans. And Cain just blew it. I'm not saying he would've won with a better game plan, but he rushed in to throw with a puncher. First thing in the first round. Just stupid. Or arrogant. Same result.

He got tuned up just not the way he wanted.
