but reading some of the reviews on it, it sounds like I shouldnt bother. I probably will get down to watching it at some point as I like to make my own mind up. Big fan of the original but a couple of friends say this one was a big let down.

Here are some review titles from IMDB, a couple good a lot bad:

"Not so much a movie, as IT is an intangible collection of scenes."

"Where was the tension?"

"Writer and Director CLEARLY NEVER READ THE BOOK"

"A scary movie that isn't scary."

"No...."

"Terrifyingly brilliant. You'll float too."

"Candy coated perversity - directed at an age group that should not be watching"

"Starts well but gets boring fast once you realise there is no goal"

"The perfect blend of comedy and horror"

. What were your thoughts on the movie, Is sit as bad as some make out?

What movie are you talking bout

edit: My bad read it wrong. An i was meh on IT

I loved it, one of my favourite movies TBH. There is a reason IT was so successful, but at the end of the day its all subjective

Was an excellent movie with some great jump scares thrown in. Great kid actors as well. You always have to form your own opinion about a movie though. Take The Witch for example. Movie scored high every where, and I absolutely hated every second of it.

Some people will hate, some will like, some will love. Watch it for yourself and form your own opinion.

Pennywise looking like some juggalo's idea of a horror clown has kept me away from it thus far.

It's funny that if you're one of the main kids, the monster will scare the daylights out of you but will always let you get away

If you're some other kid, IT will kill you at the drop of a hat. Georgie didn't even seem that scared when the clown attacked him.

It's pretty good. Doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything, but it's worth a watch.

Thread title confused me. Thought you were trying to say “it’s 2017 and I still haven’t watched...” to which I thought it’s 2018 dummy

Yeah, I came in thinking some asshole still hasn't watched Deadfall and Vampire's Kiss, but turns out it was just It.

I disliked The Witch as well and I'm a horror buff. I also appreciate slow burn movies but while there are some very good scenes and deeper meaning to The Witch, it just isn't worth the run time.

IT was a surprised hit imo. I think even the directors or people involved didn't expected to be such a huge thing. I credit the success to excellent marketing. Didn't the trailer on youtube broke some records or something? It's a great and fun movie, slightly scarier than the original. But nowhere near the best horror film of the 2010s as some are claiming.

Autopsy of Jane Doe
Goodnight Mommy
Sinister
The Conjuring
Get Out

are the better ones for 2010s imo.

It wasn't bad. More funny than scary imo. Because it had the kid from Stranger Things in it, the movie felt like a darker, longer episode of Stranger Things...with a clown.

Pfft, why waste listening to the cans in IMDb when you should just read what the Sherdog posters think about the movie.

My gripe was that the pacing felt rushed and there never was a feeling of dread that the book and even the miniseries had.

Not the greatest film but I enjoyed it a lot. Worth a watch imo. All the kid actors are great.

They did a good job. As a big fan of the book, it wasn't perfect but it did it justice. The kids were great.

Here's my take

These are accurate:
"Candy coated perversity - directed at an age group that should not be watching"
"Starts well but gets boring fast once you realise there is no goal"

I'm going to flat out disagree with this:
"Writer and Director CLEARLY NEVER READ THE BOOK" - there are tons of subtle nuances straight from the book that aren't immediately obvious.

Somewhat true:
"A scary movie that isn't scary."

Bottom line - It was OK. It's an honest attempt that has it's moments of brilliance, but again and again it sinks beneath what it could have been and they go for the cheap, easy payoff. Tons of jump-scares and CGI.

Tricky title: Came here thinking this was a either a Justin Trudeau circlejerk or bashing thread.

Left feeling strangely relived; but ended up cursing peoplekind regardless.

It was fine. Didn't blow me away but I enjoyed it.
