These prime vs prime threads are incredibly stupid. You cannot compare a pioneer that was creating the sport with a current fighter who already knew how to train, which strategies are better. Its just nonsense.

Sonnen fought for the LHW title despite being 0-1 at that weight in the UFC and coming off a loss. Elvis Sinosic, 1-6 overall in the UFC, fought for that belt too when he was just 4-3.
 
Thats all well and good, but his weightclass is shite, man.
If you still can find lightheavyweights on the roster who decrepit, way past his prime Shogun can beat, this tells you something. If a journeymen middleweights can get to the title, that says a thing or two for this weightclass also.

I don't want to undermine Jon's achievements, but let's face it, the weightclass he is fighting in is stupidly bad. I would be kinda impressed if he manages to stay undefeated after he faces the new crop LHWs, tho. Reyes looks promising, Rakic also. And Corey Anderson is not bad, when he does't shit the bed.
