Israel Supports Syrian Al-Qaeda Rebels Including ISIS

I read through the OP's article several times. What I got is that Israeli hospitals are treating wounded and ill Syrians in 4 hospitals in the Golan Heights area in a humanitarian effort. That and "some boxes" went into Syria from Israel.

Israel has maintained that the wounded are civilians while a minority sect of Shia Muslims (Druze) claims that some were rebel soldiers.

It appears Israel is doing humanitarian work and the Shia don't like to see this because Sunni are being treated.

That to me is the Cole's notes version.

I think there's a lot of quick negative judgement about Israel's involvement in this situation.

Humanitarian my ass. Why aren't they treating wounded SAA soldiers?

Why are they attacking Hezbollah operatives battling Al-Qaeda, while treating wounded Sunni jihadis?

They are ISIS, but they aren't at the border. And again, that event happened five months after the report was released.

Please don't respond to this if you are just going to disregard my entire post.

The reason Israel wants AQ militants rather than Hezbollah at their border is because one is firing rockets at them and one isn't. It is certainly worse for America, but it is better for Israel. I don't know why this is a hard concept.

I don't see how the timeline matters, it's been going on for awhile now, and it's still going on, it's not an isolated incident.

Well, at least you're willing to admit it.

Ha, this isn't exactly "humanitarian."

They are providing humanitarian aid to who they want.

To my knowledge, it is a pretty limited incident for people to defect that deep, because they are defecting in enemy territory and they'd likely die.

The article subject is bold while the article and supportive information is weak to back it up.

..Wait so we are to take this report as gospel because it comes from a few "druze" people?

Why don't you watch the Vice coverage or UN rapport about IDF-Rebel interaction.

There is no doubt that Israel is supporting AQ fighters in Syria, the only question is, to what extent. The recent Hezbollah offensive against Nusra Front in the GH area is starting to shed some light on why Israel attacked a Hezbollah convoy, killing some high ranking commanders and an Iranian General.

I've been pretty disapointed in Vice after its renewed coverage on police brutality in America. At first, it was really good, but nowadays they spin fucking ANYTHING into massive police brutality. Cop tells a known cop killer to stay in the car and guy comes out hands waiving and cop shoots him? Fucking murder.

I know that's irrelevant to the discussion, but Vice has just been pissing me off recently. It used to be a pretty great news source, seems to be buying into its hype.

This is an argument . . . Not sure I agree . . . Could be that Israel is trying to create a friendly-to-Israel Golan Heights region. I can't see lasting ties between either rebels or army. But Israel said civilians while Druze said some were soldiers.

Vice did a documentary on a drug dealer here in NY, pixelating his face, altering his voice - the works, all about how he runs his business.

he was still caught shortly after.

makes me wonder if Vice was in on it, just to cake off the story.

yeah I'm not a big fan of VICE either. I remember watching some of their docs a few years ago and were blown away by their content. I completely agree about them buying into their own hype nowadays.

^^ it's pick & choose. they've become so "trendy" & their thirst to maintain that led them to putting out a lot of fluff content.

they still have a few good pieces every so often.

I'm surprised. It was my understanding that the only thing that united the radical factions slaughtering each other in the Middle East, was their unwavering hatred of isreal.

Israel has been attacking SAA/Hezbollah assets on the Southern front for some time now, if you'll recall, Hezbollah recently responded with a deadly missile attack at Shebaa Farms. There is no question they are trying to create a buffer zone, the only problem is they're in bed with Al-Qaeda to do it.

That's all fine and dandy though, because it's in Israel's best interests to render aid to our sworn enemy. I just don't want to hear the Israeli first crowd cry about our tacit agreements with Iran in the war against ISIS and blood thirsty salafists.

It's a close call. I once read that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi hated Shia more than the Zionists.

My only response is that Israel's dilemma is on their doorstep so are doing what they believe is right in the moment to maintain a buffer zone (like you say). I'm not really a critic of what the US does either (mistakes and grey areas happen), so I'm not in that camp.

trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

which is a waste when there are some mountains already out there.

Yeah, it's no big deal that our supposed strongest ally is in league with the organization that orchestrated the 9/11 attacks.
