Already fighting for the title and has a good shot at being the next champ.

Pretty crazy If you really think about it. That's an absurdly fast ascent to the top.

Any other examples of such a fast rise?

Anderson Silva. He demolished Franklin in his 2nd UFC fight (to win the UFC MW title, for those too young to remember).

Edit: June 28th, 2006 was his first UFC fight against Chris Leben. Then on October 14th, 2006 he beat Franklin to win the 185 title. That's less than 4 months in the UFC.
 
Izzy staying real active too. Will be fun to follow his career.
 
Joe Soto got a shot at the title vs Dillashaw in his debut, not sure wether that counts though?

If thats the criteria then Frank Shamrock wins this easily.
 
BJ got a title shot after 3 professional fights in just over half a year.

Good think he's had such an easy path to the interim belt.

He's shows up, fights often and performs well in striking battles. He has the ability to keep fights standing and that's what fans love to see.


He's humble and doesn't take himself TOO seriously while he is super confident. He's a fight fans dream really with the right marketing he can be bigger than silva.
