Israel kills Iranian General, high ranking Hezbollah in Syria

They're letting the wasps and ants eradicate each other while they sit by with their can of Raid.

As Sun Tzu said; The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

You can't blame them for taking advantage of an opportunity, no matter how counter productive this is to our own agenda.

They do know Hezbollah is going to retaliate, they always do. But then again dead Israelis or jews are just votes for Bibi.

They're kind of strapped right now. They're not really running on full force.

Here's another Sun Tzu quote to sum things up; " He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious. "

You dont need a full fighting force to blow up a bus full of Israeli tourists somewhere.

Also Sun Tzu is really overrated in a world where we have access to actual history.

And so goes the danse macabre that is the middle east.

In this case they only use the can of raid on 1 species of insect. You can bet though that should the Syrian Jihadis win and then launch attacks against Israel, the Israelis will claim to be victims and demand all manner of help from the US.

American strikes, training and munitions are arming the various insect colonies fighting the ants, and it's raining insecticide on all of them. Once in a while, a wasp flies up from the wreckage and Israel gives them a squirt from the can of Raid to even out the carnage. Relax. They're not obliterating the hive...yet.

Top Hezbollah commanders are being tasked with propping up Assad in Syria. As a result, they've had to stick their necks out in the open. The Israeli's are taking advantage of this and picking off a few choice ones.

this^

Just out of curiosity, what's Israel's dog in this fight?

You would think that they'd prefer the predictable and restrained hostility of an Assad regime to a Jihadistan on their border?

Dont think they really care they simply arent gonna sit back and let hezb get modern aa weapons etc nor are they gonna pass up the chance to take out critical iranian or hezb commanders if they get a chance.

So everyone here just wrote off that this is a preemptive attack to prevent attacks on Israel. Right?

Because the terrorists don't do just that. Like ever.

Assad is the middle man between Iran and Hezbollah. They continuously funnel arms and money to Hezbollah, and provide tons of training.

Hezbollah tends to fire rockets into Israel whenever they are bored.

I'm with the general consensus though, this was shitty on Israel's part. It looks like an elaborate staged event because things aren't going well in the polls for Bibi... and whenever you use your military might to kill your enemy just for political gain, well, you're an evil bastard.

Pre-emptive strike is a euphemism for we attacked first. Israel has been trying to use this excuse against Iran for awhile now but hasn't been able to launch a direct attack yet. The US also used this euphemism when it suits.

Why would Hezbollah , who has its hands full with battling Sunnis in Syria, open up a front against Israel and invite Israeli retaliation. It is a BS excuse by Israel to justify their attack.

Because they are a crazy fundamentalist terrorist organization. That's why. And they plan attacks all the time. So now they use the border with Syria to do that.

this is what I worry about. Netanyahu & co have been wanting us to go to war with Iran for quite some time now even saying that we, he US, are cowards.

I mean, it's not crazy to rule out that this wasn't done on purpose. if Iran retaliates, this whole mess would most likely force the US to get involved & to "help" Israel.

They are fundamentalists but they arent crazy.

And Israel forces well know that such attacks are retaliatory in nature, thats why like Israel and unlike other terrorist organizations, they never openly claim responsibility for such attacks.

Nice for you to ignore the fact that Israel arms and trains terrorists.,

Hez is not like sunnis orgs (ISIS, AQ, Al Nusra etc.) Hez is not concerned about converting or killing non Shia or non Muslims. Hez was formed after Israel invaded Lebanon, so they are more of a resistance movement. Just because they are Muslim does not mean they should be lumped in with Taleban,ISIS,AQ,Nusra etc..

Israel supporters like to lump Hez in with the Sunni orgs because Hez opposes Israel, Netanyahu and Likudniks especially try this.

Since fighting the Syria Sunni rebels , when did Hez initiate an attack against Israel? Israel has struck Hez a few times now, in Syria.

Hezbollah does carries terrorists attacks, but they dont really make it public, since the message is aimed at Israeli intelligence, not the general public.

prob because Israel couldnt sustain a prolonged attack against Iran so the point is moot to begin with. Only with America's help would that be remotely possible for them.

Also nice to act like Iran isnt all over the Middle East getting involved or starting conflicts. Its just Israel huh. Cool story, bro. Iran is doing a better job of indirectly attacking Israel than vice versa. A much better job.

I always thought that Iran would make a better partner, would have more to offer to the west in terms of helping to keep a lid on things in the ME, and in general would have more to offer the west, than the state of isreal.

yes them fanning the flames of hatred between Sunni's and Shiites would surely bring peace and stability to the region like never seen before!!

right after killing all the Sunni's of course.

Retaliates over 1 general ?
