I don't think Israel was expecting this kind of response and success from Iran in a 2 day period - 5 separate attacks so far from Iran. Iran is a large country with an equally large military stockpile, and it is currently just warming things up. This is not something that Israel can sustain for a long period of time. Israel is currently burning through its military stockpile like there is no tomorrow. Have they planned for an exit ramp (strategy) for the near future? Probably not. Short of relying on US support. Israel is putting itself into a corner. They thought this was going to be a short operation, but they were wrong. I'm just hoping they keep things at the conventional level.

That's exactly what's happening. Trump was asking for a bit more time for negotiations then Netanyahu said YOLO and only gave a few hours of notice that he was just going to attack.

Israel knew Iran has to counterattack and this would force the US to help defend them.
