“He’s a c*nt,” Adesanya told Luke Thomas during an appearance on The MMA Hour. “First of all, there’s two variables I never expected in this game. The first was to fight [Anderson] Silva and now to fight Jon Jones. I have to adapt to that. So, he’s a c*nt and I say that because he’s picking the time when I’m supposed to get the most shine to come at me because he’s irrelevant. No one really cares about him. I’m everything he wished he was, I’m everything he wished he would have been. Like ‘Ooooh, I want to thank God’ and meanwhile he’s in the back (makes snorting noise) and the hiding under a cage (editor’s note: allegedly) to avoid USADA.”

Adesanya is, of course, referring to Jones’ previous suspension tied to his past cocaine usage. Unrelenting, “The Last Stylebender” continued his tirade on the public perception of Jones.

“I know some things, the streets are talking. Everyone knows what’s up behind the scene,” Adesanya said. “So, I’m everything he wished he was. People don’t have to like me but it’s hard not to like me. Like, f**k, I just put on one the best fights you’ve ever seen and I’m a nice guy. I’m actually a nice guy. I’m sure to his team and his people he’s actually nice but, yeah, I don’t know.”

Jones (24-1, 1 NC) is the current record holder for youngest champion at UFC history. Claiming gold against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua when he was just 23 years old in 2011, Jones’ résumé is nearly incomparable. Adesanya (17-0), who claimed his first title at 29, went from UFC newcomer to champion in just 14 months, making him one of the few fighters on the roster who can match Jones’ meteoric rise.

So, recognizing he’s still fairly new to MMA, Adesanya attributes Jones’ callout as more of a calculated move to face him before he reached his full potential rather than a legitimate rivalry.

“Put it this way: if you want to beat me you’ve got to do it yesterday,” Adesanya said. “Every single fight I’m getting better. There’s only one reason he calls me out. I know [Jones is] a man of challenges. I’m not an easy fight but he knows if he wants to get me then the time is right now. I’m only a year and some change in this game. Imagine where what I’m going be in two years. He’s trying to get this fight this fight early so he has a better chance of beating me. But, I’m player one and I have the controller. So, that fight will happen but it will happen on my terms.

“If he wants to come down to 185 then I mean, hey, kill yourself to come down. I wouldn’t advise it. Eventually at a catchweight or something. I’ll come up. I like the sound of two belts. But he knows I’m getting better each fight.”

Shaking off Jones’ criticism for seemingly struggling against Gastelum, a visibly annoyed Adesanya shifted gears back to his division. Declaring he had unfinished business at 185-pounds before he could play around at 205-pounds, including a title unification bout against injured champion Robert Whittaker later this year, Adesanya laid down one final warning.

“[Ronaldo] ‘Jacare’ [Souza], Yoel [Romero], [Chris] Weidman, [Jared] Cannonier, these are guys still in line,” Adesanya said. “So, chill motherf**cker Jones. Let me get through the middleweights first and at least defend my belt a few times. I want to get through all of the top middleweights at least once and then I’ll move up. But, he’s trying to jump the gun — he knows I’m a challenge because, honestly, he’d have a better chance of beating me right now than a year or two years from now. He knows that. He’s a smart man and his coaches are smart. So, I don’t know if it’s all on him or someone is pushing him to ‘Get him now. Get him now while he’s still green.’ I’ve been bulled my whole life. So, when I peak, he’s going to get this.

“I’ve beaten heavyweights and I didn’t have to weigh heavyweight. I like a challenge and I like a test. These are things that make you immortal and that’s what I want to do in this game. I want to be immortal forever.”

Well I'd rather be someone that has his life together than a guy that always gets in trouble. So I know I would prefer to be Israel (not the country though) than Jones.

<{dayum}>

Im starting to like Izzy.

Sounds like fake beef.

Why would Jones be jealous?

He has a superior resume, greater accolades, more money and can kill anyone on the ufc roster including Izzy.

Good for him, he's not out there gouging eyeballs while doped up on PEDs.

Why is Jones calling this kid out ? Adesanya is too small to fight jones, he's not even big for a MW. It's like lately......he's been calling out guys that he knows will be an easy fight for him. Calling out Brock and a undersized MW

I like Israel but he should focus on Whittaker first.

Jones love to mess with green middleweight. Why didn't he say anything about N'gannou or Stipe ?

I mean.. Youngest UFC champion and widely regarded as the greatest talent to ever do it, yet he wishes to be Israel Adesanya?

<36>

Even Jones’ biggest detractors must recognise that he would wreck Israel and finish him with whatever he chooses. Props on the interim title, Izzy, but c’mon, even your own mother doesn’t believe this shit.

lol, delusional. and before the fakkits in here start repeating that whole "wHy iS JoNeS PiCkINg On A MIdDlEWeIgHT" nonsense israel called him out first.

jones is the superior fighter. its not a debate.

I think Dana encouraged him to go the Conor route to SUPERSTARDOM!!! which involves being a bit delusional.

I remember him acting offended when people said he's the next Jon Jones. Pfft!

Someone needs to pull this kid aside and get his head straight. His win was great, but he's really gotta slow his roll.

Juice Jones would be shooting for cowardly takedowns all day.
