Israel Adesanya stops by Ariel Helwani's show to talk about his upcoming Interim Title bout at UFC 236 against Kelvin Gastelum and much more.
Cliffs:
-His flight got delayed to Atlanta
-Says he's been ready, China helped him prepare for it. He's seen it all because of his time in China
-Is fine with the relatively quick turn around, and wanted to take advantage of the opportunity, again citing China, saying he fought numerous times a year in China.
-In regards to the Interim Title, he said plans change, you have to adapt, improvise, and overcome(Aye)
-Says he didn't need that much convincing, but things negotiated behind the scene helped him take the fight.
-Says he doesn't care about the criticism received from Robert Whittaker, and Jacare Souza, says they were nice to him in person(THEY DIDN'T KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY LOL)
-Says he's not two faced, he'll say what he says on the Internet, he'll say it to your face.
-Should Adesanya win, UFC Plans on having the Unification Bout in either late July, or early August....IN AUSTRALIA(Oh....Boy)
-Says during Fight Week he doesn't do a lot of visualizing for future fights, he thinks about the fight at hand.
-Adesanya disagrees with the notion that Gastelum will be the toughest MMA Fighter he's fought, says it was a Russian guy he fought in China(Careful now Adesanya)
-Says Gastelum's past opponents didn't have good footwork, and just stood there to get hit(interdesting)
-Says Gastelum swinging at air will "discourage" him, like it has his past opponents.
-Says he likes the Height Advantage, he gets to try different things, but also goes onto say it's not an advantage, if you don't know how to use it(Neil Magny!)
-Says that he's been the Champion, and it's not his fault people don't believe him so winning the Interim Title won't feel any different(That Ali Mindset)
-Says he learned the game early, and that not everyone cares about him, says he has to be selective to who he gives out good energy too

He's got that Ali mindset, him and Kamaru Usman made similar comments to being the Champion before BEING the Champion. I don't think it's in his best interest to overlook Gastelum though.
