Isn't it kind of grimmy how the financial struggles of UFC fighters is put on display?

Revenue sharing should be closer in line with how all the other major sports leagues in the US do it which is somewhere around 50/50. I'm not saying it has to be 50/50 or 49/51, but if I had to guess then I would bet total fighter payout is less than 30% of the total revenue generated by the UFC.

I think even if you have 10 million in the bank and someone, anyone, let alone your boss offers you 10k for a little running/swimming competition against your colleague a lot of people would be up for that.
800 meters is not a little competition lmao.
That's slavery dawg

i agree, it should be socialist and they all make the same living wage of 30K per year and any that disagree get sent to the gulag.

also, NBA and NFL should subsidize MMA and give a large percentage of their pay to bring up the UFC minimum wage.... why should lebron get so much money when ufc fighters dont, it is not fair!

Also, all CEO's should have to pay my bills because it is not fair that they are CEO's and I am not!

Also, bootlickers should get paid just as much as those with the boots, it's not fair!

Also, everyone should die at the same age, it's not fair that some people only live to 40 and die of cancer they didnt choose and some people live to 100 while drinking and smoking, you know... it's not fair!
Retarded take, you don't know what socialism is. Go to the war room

That's great, and you should be proud. But you're also fortunate, because for a variety of reasons not everyone is able to just 'pull themselves up.' Another easy example that illustrates my point: let's say there's a child who is molested at a very young age. That child, as he/she becomes an adult, has to deal with a lot of shit that makes it a lot harder to 'make the right choices' and 'work hard and live the dream.' It's not this linear path you make it out to be.
Of course, is not a linear path life is full of curves but there's a trend going on in the US where people are blaming corporations and millionaires for their bad choices. For example, people who spend $200 on some sneakers when all they can afford is a $50 pair. or people who rather get the new iPhone Then, start a personal retirement account.

But back to my original point if someone is thinking of becoming a fighter knowing how bad fighters get paid knowing that a large number of figthers end up broke with CTE that's on them not on Dana or the UFC

Fully agree with you here.

It's not just that the UFC doesn't pay their fighters nearly enough, they also seem to have no shame admitting it.

In response to the Dana White bootlickers about to come in here, let me get this straight folks:
<3>
No company pays people enough period.

Athletes (along with any entertainer)have been extremely spoiled with their salaries!

Nah, some companies do pay their employees a good wage.
It's not the rule though.
Athletes (along with any entertainer)have been extremely spoiled with their salaries!
I can see where you're coming from with athletes from other sports, but MMA fighters really get paid peanuts on average.

I dont care as much, mma shoudent be anyone's "career". It something you do save training really only 3 times a year, maybe more.

Its not Dana's fault some of these dudes quit their job and stop caring about higher education and skill training. He should still pay them more, and cover the medical expenses during their contract (which for the most part he does).

But some of what we see is simply bad decision making, coupled with with the mistake of thinking fighting will always be there for you.

Ok Dana “this isn’t a career, it’s an opportunity”. No one can be a top fighter and still work a regular job/career. That is stupid.

Also, this country has a problem with people not taking responsibility for their actions 95% of income inequality boils down to people making bad decisions. If you know fighting doesn't pay well and you choose to become infighter that's own you, not on Dana, not on the UFC.
Income inequality isn’t just about bad decisions... a plumber makes less than an A list actor, did the plumber make a bad life decision by not acting? Poor understanding of life here. Seems like you would want everyone to go into business and get “respectable” careers... in other words make the world flat. Sad.

The worst part is that it takes a huge hit on the talent pool overall in mma. Most people would think mma fighters are idiots for pursuing fighting as a career when they find out how much they get paid. Imagine how big the talent pool in mma would be if the sport actually paid well.

For example, Terence Crawford, the #1 p4p boxer in the world, also came from a wrestling background and still trains to this day. When asked about it, he said he never even considered fighting in mma because of the abysmal pay, almost a joke on the fighters.
crawford started boxing at 7 and had 70 amateur fights and was an olympic hopeful. he pursued boxing because he was great at boxing and started early. and fought alot to prove his talent.

boxing isn't the best point to make because most boxers make little as well and you wouldn't pursue boxing unless you really were able to differentiate yourself as an ammy if you really were playing the $ odds.

if crawford didn't grow up boxing, and wrestled through college, he would be a good candidate to pursue mma. and he'd likely do so over boxing.

I'm not saying they have to work a day job while they're in training camp. But plenty of fighters still have careers in and around their ufc careers. Also consider 85 percent of people in mma will never be a top fighter, and should probably keep their day job.

Think for a second before you post, whats the alternative? Quiting everything and only depending on a fucking promotion for income?

Yes. I’d rather like one day as a lion than an eternity as a sheep.

This is why evolution is such a crushingly long process.

Actually no, I chose not to go to college cause I knew it wasn't for me I chose a manual job but I work my way up the ladder and that was my decision I can't get angry because Chris pratt makes more than me. We can't not all get pay equally cause not all jobs are the same. If you think someone working as a plumber should make the same as an A list actor you are the one with the wrong worldview.

You were taking the stance that anyone who struggles with money is somehow a flawed and stupid person so I had to respond

Right, why doesn't everyone in this country just become doctors? If they're not smart enough, meh fukim.

It's reality TV, there is not standards and anything to try to create rivalries or confrontation is golden.

Its not 'distasteful' is wildly unfair.

UFC fighters are exchanging brain damage for pennies on the dollar. Its a bad joke and has got to change.
