They also maintain a much more rigorous training regimen throughout the year, that’s one of the reasons Khabib used to be injured all the time. For all those reasons they usually retire earlier than American fighters, by their mid 30s they’re tired of the lifestyle, physically besten down, and already set for life money wise. So because of some statistic around jet lag while traveling east (despite plenty of US based fighters finding success in Abu Dhabi) that means the UFC screwed Charles? Also, if you rubbed your 2 brain cells together you’d realize that statistics are only observational, they don’t actually explain why a phenomenon is happening, they only show that it’s happening. The fact is that any fighter traveling east for a fight can remediate whatever inherent challenges exist, it so happens that most of them don’t. Charles is a great example, he foolishly went to Abu Dhabi only about 8-9 days before the fight. Blaming the location is simply a very poor excuse anyway you slice it. It sounds to me that you’re a butt hurt Charles fan twisting yourself into contortions to make excuses for why he lost. He lost because Islam was flat out better. Charles could’ve had 1 year to rest and they could’ve fought in the middle of a Brazilian favela and Islam still would’ve probably wiped the floor with him. Pointing out factors that may have had marginal impact on the result when there was such a gap in skill & fight IQ is silly.
