I'd like to see it, but kind of high-risk, low-reward for Islam. I wish Gillespie would've been more active. A couple more wins after the Lee loss and it might have earned a fight like this. He's not getting any younger, either.

No one at LW is really "high risk" for Islam. Islam is "high risk" for everyone else.

Islam is also high-reward for Gillespie since he's ranked much higher.

Islam should take the best option available to him, so hopefully that's someone who a win over them will give Islam a TS (since that would make it 9 consecutive wins), like one of these guys:

Where are you getting this from? Islam has always agreed to fight lower ranked guys. Lately he's been active by agreeing to the best ranked guys that UFC offer him.

There's a big difference between Gaethje and Gillespie, though. Gillespie actually uses his wrestling a lot more in MMA, such as the recent Ferreira fight. Gaethje only uses his wrestling defensively (TDD and scrambles back to his feet) Gillespie was a better wrestler in college than either Gaethje or Chandler, too.

Thats a no win for Islam. If he beats Gillespie, he still will not have had a top 5-6 ranked win and that will be used against him in denying him a title shot.

At this point he should sit out until he gets a top name OR the title fight.
