Islam vs Conor is clearly the fight UFC would love to make - its quite notable that Dana has already said Conor and Chandler will go at 155lbs. Reason for that has to be enable them to give Conor an immediate title shot if he wins.This fight would be massive with casuals due to the Khabib history and Islam would be able to set himself and his family for life financially off of it. It would also be in theory a pretty easy fight for Islam so I believe if the opportunity presents he should take it.

Obviously people will say it should be Benny if beats Charles but lets be honest Benny is not a draw and that fight doesen't do numbers. Islam lacks personality so he really needs the other side to bring that for the promotional POV and Benny really doesen't have that other than saying crazy shit about jesus. All it means is he's got to sit for a few extra months to let the Conor/Islam thing play out and if UFC was decent (which they aren't) they'd bung him some cash for the trouble.

Is best to make your peace with this now because if Conor gets past Chandler this is what is going to happen and I for one am not totally against watching McGregor get mauled by Khabib's understudy if it comes to that.

Yes yes but he won't - UFC is a business and it would be an irrational business decision to have Conor fight another LW contender when they could make this fight.

My point is not that he deserves it - it is that the company will go to lengths to make it happen if he can get by Chandler and that Islam could make huge money to take an easy fight.

It's prizefighting at the end of the day and it would be foolish to leave the money that could be made here on the table.

Conor is trash at this point, but even at his absolute peak he gets mauled by Islam. Would be fun to watch though, just to see him get beat down and humiliated again. He’s so good at it.
