Is Yair Rodriguez vs Frankie the biggest example of WME/UFC not knowing how to match make anymore?

No. A lot of people thought Yair would win. Hes young and he can learn from the loss

Frankie wasn't trying to be anybody's stepping stone, plain and simple.

shrug. Yair was confident and had an opportunity to make a big splash. Frankie needed a fight until he could get the next title fight. win/win/win.

lots of us thought Frankie had it in the bag, easy. but many didn't. many sherdoggers and others bought Yair's hype. Frankie was only a -260 favorite (source). pretty damn high, but far from outrageous.

lastly, it's easy to monday morning quarterback fights; harder to put money on the line before the fact. i made decent $ on this fight. did you?

Has Rodriguez switched teams and management? That's who's really to blame for that fight. I'm sure Yair wanted the fight but the people who handle his career should have known he wasn't ready for Edgar.

Cant win in these situations. Fights Edgar and its to much to soon. Fights lesser guys and he is can crushing

It wasn't a bad match on paper. Old guard vs new.

Yair just didn't have anything for Edgar.

Frankie let em know he ain't no damn stepping stone for the UFC to try and give a name to some hype beast. Frankie smashed the fuck out of that dude, it was beautiful.

How long as these prospects supposed to beat up cans? Yair is less afraid of top guys than Ortgega.

Yair annihilated Penn. I actually bet on Yair to beat Edgar. Edgar is very smart and used his wrestling and ground and pound to negate Yair's striking.

It was Yair that asked for the fight. Of course the matchmakers could have said no, but why not.

It was funny that before the fight, half the people were saying "Yair by KO" even though he only had a few T/KO wins and against a guy who has never been finished.

I like in the corner when the docs were checking Yair. They were like trying to dig through the swelling to see if he in fact did have an eyeball in that mess. Ugh.

Natural progression up the ranks til the old dog drops you down a few.

It will better him as a fighter.

I don’t believe it was bad match making, just a bad match for Yair.

Yeah, WME is terrible for matching up top fighters against each other.

Prospects should be protected forever, and never be given a fight they can lose.

The betting odds opened Frankie as a big favorite and ended up being 50/50 so ‘many’ people were on Yair.

Also i think Yair was the one that wanted it.

Penn was like 70!

Yair isn't hype. That kid is an extremely gifted fighter. He's young though. He's only going to get better.

With that said, Frankie is a living legend. Can't wait for him vs Max

Chad Mendes vs Cody McKenzie was one of the worst mismatches ever, so was Chael vs Jones
