Is Urijah faber's 8 Title Shots some type of record?

Not counting title defenses, just fights he's had where he was not the champion and had the opportunity to become the champion. I count 1 Gladiator Featherweight, 1 King of the Cage Bantamweight, 3 WEC Featherweight, and 3 UFC Bantamweight title shots...with a record of 2-6.

I know there are guys like BJ, Randy, Vitor and Lyoto who fight a ton of times for the title. But Faber has to be the ultimate "Mr. Money in the Bank," doesn't he?

probably - but he also was at the top of the division for a long ass time and continues to be - sometimes you're just the 2nd best fighter in a division (or a few bc you dont give a fck), is normal

Faber was one of the fighters that got me into MMA back in 08 so I am slightly biased to him. But let's look at something real quick.

Got upset by Mike Brown and lost his Title. 21-2

Beat Jens Pulver by Sub in the 1st rd of their rematch. 22-2


Lost a decision to Brown in the rematch. 22-3

Dominated Asscucao choked him out, only guy to do this 23-3

Lost to Aldo 23-4

Choked out Mizugaki in round 1 only guy to ever do this. 24-4

Beat Wineland in a tough fight 25-4

Lost a close fight to Cruz 25-5

CRUSHED Bowles 26-5

Lost to Barao 26-6 in a a non competitive fashion.

Choked out Ivan 27-6

Choked out Jorgenson 28-6

UD'd Alcantara 29-6

DOMINAtED the younger McDonald 30-6

Lost to Barao again in non competitive fashion

Faber has a historic career in the lighter divisions that I barley touched on.

He earned every shot he got.

Had to edit for some errors, no fan is perfect even if we try to be.

He is certain Mr. "win every non title fight by one sided beatdown". So he gets a fair amount of them. Also, he has been like that for fucking ever. The forst title shot you mentioned was literally 10 years ago. No other fighter has stayed at the highest level for that long.
