Is 'unproffesional' the right word for Johnson if he isn't in the gym hitting pads right now?

So we all know the deal with the Chad Mendes situation. The #1 ranked FW at the time. Knowing that there would be a good chance he would be the filler for Aldo/McGregor.

Still didn't train one bit until the call came. I find that dumb.

If the #3 ranked LHW isn't having a camp right now would that in your opinion be unproffesional?

DC is training at AKA and Bones is in jail...

He should be in the woods wrestling bears instead...

Well, I don't think it matters if you're Rumble. Either you KO the fool in 2 mins or you Conor Lombard it.

Bones in jail?? Did i miss something?

No but it might be considered ''unprofessional''.

On a serious note, I don't think the UFC would make DC-Rumble 2 so soon after the first one or at least they shouldn't do.

He just fought DC not long ago. I'm not sure who else they'd bring in, but I don't think Johnson is a guarantee.

If he is smart he needs to start training now!
By the way mendes cool, i don't think he had to prepare prior to the mcgregor fight, who would have known aldo will pull?

Not really. He may not want to go through the stress of a camp for a maybe. He's next in line (probably) for a title shot anyway, why not wait for the confirmed bout

If Bones can't fight, then DC will most likely pull out, probably claim injury.

I never understood the whole "camp" thing. I train year round as if I have a fight scheduled. And I havn't had a fight yet!

I have never seen anyone not be in the gym for more than a few days. Only exception being injury or post fight recovery. Other than that, if your a professional fighter. Your in the gym...

You really believe these guys sit around and eat pizza until 8-10 weeks before a fight? Lmao....

You don't have any fucking idea how camps work.

Camps are fucking stressful to a fighters body...why in the fuck will you be training at 100% if you are not set to fight.

It's a disservice to your body and career longitivity.

So I have no idea why u blame Mendes for him not know Aldo would get injured and he would step up....guy couldn't predict that until he got the call.

Now maybe since the Jones news broke, he can begin training if he wants the fight...even then not guaranteed he will fight Cormier again.

Wear and tair and they are pros

Do you train for like 6 hours+a day like these guys? Or is this a hobby for you.

When these guys do fight camps, they go balls hard and train long....and they want their body at peaked performance for the fight....you can't do that shit year around...you'll burn itself out physically and mentally.

I'm sure fighters still go to the gym, spar, work on technique but don't balls to the wall hard.

Jones is living price that vacation time is good for a fighter

Just because DC worked him for 3 rounds he gasses automatically after 2 minutes. What about the Phil Davis fight?

Actually 'unproffesional' isn't the right word for anything.

I think most of the fighters people think of as "professional" keep themselves in constant fight shape.

Training camps cost money. Plus you can over train. You can't just continually be in a training camp chasing maybes. How can you motivate yourself for a maybe? It isn't easy. It is very different from normal training that GSP and others are doing all the time.
