Is Tony vs Conor for an interim the way to go ?

Conor sounds so much cooler in your head than he is in reality. Oh and Michael Johnson, Abel Trujillo, Edson Barboza and Gleison Tibau all fought Tony and Khabib before the leprechaun has ever even gathered up his courage to step up.

Poirier is 7 - 1 -1 since moving to LW. MJ was the only loss. MJ also beat Ferguson. Conor is 1 - 1 at LW and just got dominated and finished by Khabib.
Poirier lost to Conor 4 1/2 years ago in a different weight class. Poirier vs Ferguson is the only interim fight that makes sense.

Wow, I guess you missed the fact that Khabib and Tony were set to fight. Khabib was ready and made weight. The fight did not happen because of Tony, you know that right? Conor real? He Has made a living off of fighting smaller fighters. We now know that it is not the left hand that makes him good it is the size advantage that is his greatest asset. He is now fighting guys his size and he is not doing well.

Well, Conor held up the LW division for a year and a half. Came back, jumped the line, got dominated and finished by Khabib. He can fight Cowboy or Nate. keep him away from belt and let other guys get their shot FFS. IMHO.

Just strip Khabib and have Tony v Dustin for the belt

Either one of them has a better claim to being champ than either Khabib or Conor anyway
 
If your doing a interim belt it has to be Tony vs Dustin.

Conor vs Cowboy makes sense and it gives Conor a great shot at getting back in the win column.

Conor can defend the title vs. Dustin. Get Dana White out there selling the idea now. Everyone else is an idiot, every expert I talked to, etc.

Then, no one can bitch about Conor not defending a title and he becomes the undisputed champion. Anyone who disagrees doesnt know sht about MMA.

Conor won the belt in November 2016

Four months later Tony v Khabib was scheduled for interim title

FOUR MONTHS

If Khabib had acted professionally then he would have made weight, Tony and he would have fought and in April 2017 we would have had an interim champ and the division could have moved on, 4 months after Conor winning the belt.

Instead we had to wait until October when Ferguson v Lee for the interim belt, 11 months after Conor won the belt

April 2018, we again had Khabib v Tony scheduled, and at that point Conor was going to be stripped, 1 year 5 months after winning the belt.

But this time Tony gets fucking injured, and so we get the farce of Khabib v Iaquinta for a worthless belt..

Finally, in October 2018 Khabib and Conor meet and Khabib finally beats the former champ, 2 years after he had won the belt




But the whole "conor held the division to ransom for two years" isnt entirely true. If Khabib and Tony werent made of fucking eggshells the division would have been sorted a mere 4 months after Conor's title win.

this all assumes Conor can still even train for and fight a top 10 guy , let alone the best guy in the division in Tony
 
You don't lose a title fight and immediately fight for an interim title. That's not how it works. But a part of me would be glad because Tony would finally get paid and get the recognition he deserves after killing Conor.
 
From a sporting perspective, the only way to go is Poirier and Tony. The only argument acceptable for Conor and Tony is that Tony is fucked over enough that he deserves the pay day (assuming he wants it). That's it.
 
The brain says Tony/Poirier

The heart would love to see and hear the trash talk between Conor and Tony for a couple months before Tony retires him. T-Ferg finally getting the red panty night.

Either way though I just want El Cucuy in there fighting, followed by him vs. Khabib.
 
I don't know about Conor, but whoever Ferg is fighting next should be for the interim belt assuming Khabib isn't fighting anytime soon.
