A lot of people here are directly mocking Ortiz and automatically discrediting him as a manager calling him "incompetent" and stupid.

But let's not forget that in his UFC career, he always succeeded at promoting his matchs, and even well after his decline.

In his last two disclosed payouts, years after becoming completely irrelevent in the MMA rankings, he still managed to get pay 450k (a win against Bader) and 250k( a defeat against Forrest) while much more talented and relevent fighters are getting paid way less than that.

Ortiz is one of the fighter that made the most money in the UFC, he knows perfectly well how to promote a fight and how to act to create interest with the casual fan.

I think he is one of the most logical choice as a manager.

Ortiz will be a big name as a manager IMO,he knows everything about the sport and I have no doubt he is a pretty smart guy

as long as he dont have to accounce anything :icon_lol:

"That was the old Vitor Belfort that we all want to see. Him at 131 years old. He's
back for vengeance." Tito Ortiz

He's more of a walking billboard with a mouth than an actual manager...

Well as long as he gets the best for his fighters (which he'll probably do) , thats all that matters. The dude is pretty clever at these things.

He knows the fight game as well anyone and his rolodex is probably full of matchmakers, sponsors, trainers etc. so I'd say he has the potential to be a grat manager.

Does he have any clients other than Santos and Rob Emerson?

Let's see where Cyborg is in a year, then we'll have a better idea how he is doing.

Seems to me trying to get her out of the UFC is a mistake, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.

People will base their opinion of his competence as a manager ONE decision at a time. Just like they do everything else in MMA

Does one good thing = THE BEST EVA

Does one bad thing = SHOULD RETIRE

hate to say it but tito will not succeed. imo the only reason cyborg has tito is the language barrier

being a great speaker doesnt make you a good manager but just listen to tito trash talk, talk mma, and then listen to him try to do interviews (affliction) or talk about business (mma hour with bas). theres a big difference and its because tito is comfortable talking about what he knows imo. he can trash talk and talk about mma all day

everyone wants to be in the ufc. if your manager had problems with the ufc to the level of tito then hes not the best guy to represent you. tito caused a ton of problems and if you remember there was a time when dana and the ufc wouldnt deal with him. they eventually got a deal done but the relationship is still really bad

i can tell you as someone who actually has represented people professionally (not as a manager) your responsibility is to look out for your clients best interest. its not in your clients best interest to have someone the ufc cant cooperate with negotiate on your behalf. for all you kids out there. imagine the trouble-maker son going to talk to the parents about getting more allowance or a new bike on behalf of the golden-child. it doesnt make sense

He's probably living vicariously through Cyborg in terms of management, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

If Tito was managing Rousey, that would be a perfect match.

Tito became a huge name by self promotion. He will be an excellent manager.

Also his g/f Jenna is a very smart business woman. Yes, we all know she did porn, but after porn she became very rich in her business knowledge...

Can someone do a Tito with Don King hair shoop for us all :)

he probably has a shitload of connections with sponsors, and in the ufc thats all a manager really needs to do

His ego is way bigger than his brain or ambition to do things will ever be and that's his problem. He always wants to be the center of attention and he's really not smart enough to do anything. Half the things he says that make him sound like a cool guy he probably is just repeating from things Jenna says to him. Think anything that involves managing other people is bad for him. Stick to his Punishment clothing line and other projects of his but stay away from managing fighters is all I'm saying. He's only hurting them and being selfish in the process.
