Just watched Diego Sanchez vs Nick Diaz, and I am blown away at the amount of skill they have shown in that fight. Diego got multiple takedowns, stacked Nick and landed some good GnP, but Diaz had multiple reversals, got his own takedowns and went for leglocks, omoplata and shown great wrist control from the bottom as well as landing a viscious upkick in the 2nd round.

Sanchez 30-27 no controversy. Definition of a great fight! Anyone agree?

PM me if u wanna see the 'highlights'.

I still think Shields/Maia is a grappling masterclass of a fight. It went all five and I enjoyed it immensely at the time.

Not a "grappling fight" per se but Cejudo/DJ 2 had some wild ass grappling exchanges / scrambles

Diego has some great grappling, very underrated. I would have loved to see he and Matt Hughes both go at it in their primes.

This fight doesn't get enough credit. I still to this day remember the prefight interviews with Diaz saying how Sanchez hadn't fought anyone good and shouldn't be fighting him... But we all saw what happened. But to be fair both Diaz and Sanchez have a list of great fights.

Couture/Van Arsdale was a good wrestling centric MMA fight.

DJ vs. Elliott contains all the methods from the grappling greats of the past such as Marc Garcia, Buchencha, Ed Talles, Leo Lo, etc.

Look for stiff arming, inversion, peterson rolls, bicep rides... it's one of the best fights of all time to study MMA grappling.

May be because it's so recent, but Maia/Askren was pretty awesome. What sets it apart is how fast the attempts and defenses happened. And Maia chaining the attempts together after each defense.

Also, it didn't end with a submission, but the chess match going on before Belcher smashed Palhares was badass

Maia vs Shields was better because Shields is 10X better than Askren

That is a great one. My favorite MMA fight that turned into an amazing grappling match was Joe "Daddy" Stephenson vs George Sotiropolous
