I was cruising the local facebook classifieds and I saw this ad,

I don't have kids so I'm out of the loop when it comes to this kind of stuff, but this seems kind of chintzy.

Edit* Also, When I was a kid the solution to these parents problem would be to have the 10 year old get up on her own, wake up the 7 year old, have them poor themselves a bowl of cereal, brush their teeth, and walk their ass's to the bus stop.

Maybe if you get to live and eat there for free (like for a student). Otherwise that's a terrible deal

sounds like its about 1-2hrs of work a day. which isn't too bad but they need to throw in extra for gas.

I used to get 40$ a week for car pooling a kid a few blocks away to school every afternoon. it was easy money but I felt bad for taking it.

That's fucking horrible and those people are retarded. Who the fuck skimps out when you're paying for someone who will be responsible for the well being of your children? I would think something like 20 an hour is a good starting point, but I'd be willing to pay more for someone who would actually bond with the children and do an excellent job. I don't have kids, but god damn, I can't imagine the type of garbage you'd drag in paying someone 10 bucks a fucking day.

Could be that that person can't really afford to pay more than that. Also sounds like its pretty much just giving the kids a ride to school?

Not much money but for someone local with mornings free,I suppose its Ok. Agree they'd have to pay for gas too.

You know what, I think some old woman might do this. Some old grand parent type who likes kids.
The parent not doing this is really missing out.

They should just call it for what it is: free volunteer work needed driving our kids to and from school, subject to schedule disruptions. Also must be good with pets. Hurry! Limited number of positions available...

It really depends on when they need to show up in the AM and for how long they are watching them, not to mention how close they live and how long the drive is to school. We pay our sitter $25/day to show up at 5:45 AM when I am out of town because that is when my wife leaves for work. She has a little bit of a drive and is showing up pretty early, but also drops him off at 7:20 so isn't missing much of her day.

$10 a day only works if it is someone that is a morning person, lives close and is able to drop them off before 8 AM so it doesn't interfere with a real job. The kids at that age are pretty self sufficient, but I would tell them forget it to any 1/2 days or off days since they are apparently cheapskates.

Might as well pay them in monopoly money and make playing a game of monopoly with the girls a daily task too.

This is the kind of thing they should be asking around the community. Church, relatives, or neighborhood. This wouldn't work for anyone else

Yeah, neighbor kid or relative only. For $10 a day, I wouldn't feel safe leaving my two little daughters with someone. $10 isn't much incentive to be "great" as the advertisement asks for.

Which leads me to think that the parents really are batsh* w/poor judgement of value/reality-- nevermind asking strangers into your house for a fee way too low for anyone but someone with bad intentions to make up for how not worth it it is

I'm just wondering why a 7 and 10 year old need help getting dressed and eating in the morning.

So you are getting paid ten bucks to wake some kids up, pour them a bowl of cereal, and take them to school? Sounds great for a half hour or so of work.
