Cliffs: Would you move out of the way if traffic was at a standstill and you saw that you were about to be rear ended by a fast approaching vehicle? Knowing that the vehicle in front of you is going to take the hit instead. -- I was driving down a busy road when traffic came to a sudden stop. I had to hit the brakes pretty hard but was able to come to a complete stop behind the car in front of me. I looked in the rear view and saw a car coming up behind me FAST. Without even thinking I cut the steering wheel hard to the right and pulled into the shoulder right beside the car that was in front of me. The car that was coming in hot slammed on their brakes, spun out and barely missed the car that I was now parked beside. I would have been hit. They ended up on the other side of the road facing the opposite way they were originally going. Did I do the right thing? I avoided being hit but basically left the car in front of me to take the hit. Luckily it all worked out but what if the car just didn't stop and the car in front of me had kids in it? I acted on reflexes but what would you do if you were put in this scenario? Move out of the way or brace for impact?
