Would you move out of the way if traffic was at a standstill and you saw that you were about to be rear ended by a fast approaching vehicle? Knowing that the vehicle in front of you is going to take the hit instead.

    --
I was driving down a busy road when traffic came to a sudden stop. I had to hit the brakes pretty hard but was able to come to a complete stop behind the car in front of me.

I looked in the rear view and saw a car coming up behind me FAST. Without even thinking I cut the steering wheel hard to the right and pulled into the shoulder right beside the car that was in front of me.

The car that was coming in hot slammed on their brakes, spun out and barely missed the car that I was now parked beside. I would have been hit. They ended up on the other side of the road facing the opposite way they were originally going.

Did I do the right thing? I avoided being hit but basically left the car in front of me to take the hit. Luckily it all worked out but what if the car just didn't stop and the car in front of me had kids in it?

I acted on reflexes but what would you do if you were put in this scenario? Move out of the way or brace for impact?

As in "you jerked your wheel hard to get out of harm's way?" Yes that's techically a jerk move.

As in, "ya big fat jerk?!" Noway, Jose.

    Done it twice.

Once while I was on a motorcycle that would have been the end of me. The other time was an ambulance that creamed the dude in front of me. The dick move was driving off.

I've done it before, I moved out of the way when the traffic was coming to a stop and the car behind me hit the car that was in front of me.

sometimes bus drivers here in NY JDGAF.

we were at a stop light, & behind the line that's ahead of the crosswalk line, that's there to remind you to make space for the buses turning in.

well this one bus was coming in hot & just fucking dipped hard on that turn. like a surgeon, my buddy popped into gear & cut over to the right, tires pressed into the curb to avoid the bus. if he didn't that bus would have fucked us up.

not a jerk move at all

self preservation is hard wired into the brain

not your fault the retard was about to rear end you. not your fault you had to move and save your own ass.

You did nothing wrong. If anything, you gave him an extra 20 feet to stop.

at the end of the day you are responsible for your own safety first.

Kind of a silly question when the other car didn't even get hit. Either way, you don't have to be the shield for anyone else.

Well you both were going too fast. That causes more accidents than anything else. I have no issues with u moving though.
