Life's a beach and then you die. That's why we get high, 'cause you never know when you're gonna go.

I read this sentence, and made up my mind.

The drowning of a man who was swept out to sea from a beach at the Jersey Shore could have been prevented, his family said, if only the town had posted adequate warnings and prohibited access to the beach.

I'm having difficulty picturing how you go from ankle-deep water to swept out to sea in a matter of seconds, sand giving way or not. Must have happened though.

First of all, frivolous.

Secondly, is it just me or is this incredibly bad writing?

Am I the only one having a hard time forming a mental picture of what actually happened here?

From ankle deep water to "nothing under their feet" in one step. Interesting beach.

This is certainly possible, though unlikely. I've been on beaches which have pretty massive drop-offs before, although I'm really not sure what happened here seeing that a currant will usually tow someone out to sea, not under.

Also, swimming directly against the current is the absolute worst thing you can do.

Shitty thing to happen, but a lawshuit is ridiculous.

Philly.com is a joke. They literally posted an article that was a link to a Wikipedia page one time.

Can't get passed TS misspelling lawshuit in the thread title.

PS not frivolous. "Attractive nuisances" etc. They'll get some money.

If there is a "No Swimming" sign, isn't that an indication that this isn't a beach you should be hanging around? They stated there was no lifeguard. Why the fuck would there be a lifeguard at a beach where no one is allowed to swim?

Maybe they should also consider why there is a "No Swimming" sign there. That's essentially a warning. Should the city put up a wall to prevent stupid people from loitering here?

Yea, I think it's frivolous.

It's called an accident, dickhead.
