if not, what's the right way to handle the current jones/ lhw title situation? is the right thing to still give jones a shot for the legal system to play out, then base your decision on the result of his court hearings? or is the right thing to do to strip him because he's such a screw up and let Santos vs Reyes fight for the title? or something else?

I'd say let things play out in court. If Jon gets a sentence then we've gotta have a new champ or interim champ.

Too early to tell. There’s a pico chance he won’t be suspended. I’ll reserve judgment until I hear his side of the story. Tainted ginger ale, maybe

I guess another question is: do blachowicz and/or Anthony smith deserve an interim title shot. I guess I started this thread off with Santos vs Reyes, because both of them arguable beat jones. but one could argue that blachowicz deserves a shot. I know smith is scheduled to fight teixeira, so maybe his name is off the table for now.

Jon will be stripped, no interim bullshit in 2020

I think Jones is going to jail, so I think Reyes vs Santos is the way to go.

Jones is a favourite of mine .... but I think he’ll be away for a bit .... Santos vs Reyes would be fun imo

anthony smith should never smell a title bout for the rest of his career. Lying Fart deserves nothing.

The evidence against Jones appears overwhelming.....but in America you are innocent until proven guilty and he is a celebrity so all charges could be dropped.

I'd say interim belt for those 2.

They'll slow-roll this till they start having regular fights again, legal process may or may not play out during this time. Probably stripping him early middle next year officially when fights are regular, he comes back 2022 and we're off again.

I think you take the best bargain you can plead whatever they want, serve minimal time ((serving time on this one for sure but probably weeks because I'm a pessimist)) while hoping corona gets any legit jail-time wiped out or served in an alternate fashion, let the lawyers figure out how and get back to fighting in 2022.

I think it would be a good wake up call for Jon.
Not that he has shown he learn from his mistakes though.....

...the thing is: would anyone respect the new champ if they did not really beat Jon?
I don't think so.

So unless Jon is getting some jail time, there's no point of doing that.

Smith does not under any circumstance. He's only on a one fight win streak and did nothing against Jones in his title shot.

Jones has been gifted way too many chances by Dana, and some would argue way too many decisions by the judges (the ones ringside, and the ones in a courtroom). Jones is probably the greatest to ever step in the octagon, but he is possibly the biggest POS to ever do it, as well. And he really is not a tremendous draw at this point, so get rid of his ass.

Let Santos and Reyes go to war for the belt. Anyone who mentions Smith and belt in the same sentence should be banned.

he won a split over Santos, which is the only blemish on his record other than the Hammill ref botch

Gus is widely disputed.
Reyes is widely disputed.
Santos is widely disputed.
Hamil was a legit DQ.

couldn’t care less, tho. That’s why I mentioned Jon can leave and claim “no one ever defeated me.”

2 guys coming of losses fighting for the belt isnt really a good look but i guess there is really noone else
