Is there seriously no new young HW talent?

When has there ever been a plethora of new HW talent?

One, or two come around every few years. One of them gets KTFO. So, you MIGHT have an elite UFC HW, every few years.

Even Gane looked really good. Until he screwed the pooch in round 5 with Ngannou. He threw up a ridiculous sub attempt (make that clown watch every single Gillian Robertson fight).

She won’t put submission, over position.

She’s like a log roller. Her opponent moves beneath her, but she almost never loses position.

Aspinall is the most recent elite HW.

But not every guy under 275 lbs wants to get punched, and kicked in the face for a living. No matter what the money is.
 
It takes time to develop such size and girth. I hopped on the scale today at 260, but want to ideally be 300 b4 the cut to 265..

I totally agree!
One E-sport firm contacted me with an offer of a lot of money but I stoicaly said no!
I would rater take my chances with proper culture instead!
 
Men who weigh 206 to 265 (after a weight cut) typically aren't your athletic type who enjoy getting punched in the face. At least not for UFC dollars...

Never looked at this way but it's true that's how a guy like arlovski was able to stay ranked for so long. People thought Travis brown was one of those guys but he wasnt

Brock, Carwin, Cain, JDS, Werdum, Bigfoot, and Reem all rose to prominence in the HW division within a year or two of each other.

An mma generation before them, you had Nog, Fedor, Randy, Barnett, Cro Cop, Mir, Arlovski, and Sylvia rising to prominence.

There simply is no equivalent today. Stipe/DC/Nnganou was last big influx at HW. Two are retired, and the other one doesn't compete in the UFC(and is pushing 40). Jones/Aspinall is really the last fight of significance at HW, as far as I can tell.
 
All good points guys. Thing is, if Jones wont fight Tom, his only option is Gane, and if he beats Gane, then what? HW is essentially dead.

This is a great list of fighers it's that good you've missed Guys Rizzo, Kharitonov, Alexandre, Monson, Nelson, Herring, Schlit, Ricco

I honestly think Pete Williams and even Guys like Mike Kyle, Assuerio Silva, Tre Telliman would be top HW and have more success these days than in there time periods
 
Seeing how the UFC and Uncle Dana have managed the HW division in the last 2-3 years and the complete shit show they have created just to protect Jones' ass from a beating, I'd pick another career or organization too if I were a young HW MMA fighter.
