most of the top fighters fought are going to fight in both 185 n 205.

wouldnt be better to have ww at 175, so smaller mw could make the weight, move mw to 195 or 200 n remove lhw at 205?

I'm baffled that someone on this board actually thinks this is a good idea.

MW's always felt like the most expendable of the 5 primary divisions, but I think it's necessary.

I'm a little more worried about 115 to be honest.

Why not just have it at open weight?
weight classes are for pussies anyway.

And we all know weight classes and the UFC was invented to protect fighters from Minowa..

Lower weight classes and woman's bar-room brawler divisions should go first.

No, who does? That's my point.

Instead of everyone just killing time waiting for the heavier bar-room brawlers, the UFC should just rid themselves of the manlets, and get straight to the freakshows.

I'd like to see a cruiserweight division instead. Maybe at 220 or 225 pounds. Something for the smaller heavyweights and large LHW like Jon Jones. Someone like Cormier would fit right in there too. I also see guys like Stipe Miocic doing well in such a division. It would make a lot of sense and could be one of the more exciting divisions.

    Better than the flyweights.

I don't get why anyone would think this is a good idea. I know the gap is huge.... But who would fight in the heavy division after they make a cruiser weight? Just Bigfoot? Cain would just drop down and be the champ of both divisions.

    THis LOL

and surprisingly it was green belt thread.
rather than changing weight class, we should remove blue belt and green belt, so before they passed white belt they had decent knowledge about MMA

Yea, they can rearrange the weight-classes in a slightly different manner, but it's pointless now isn't it?

Cain could, but more than just bigfoot couldn't. It might make sense to raise the HW limit or just have no limit at all for HW.

The same argument could be made over featherweight vs bantamweight. 10 pound difference. Anyone who can fight in one class could fight in the other. One class will be better for a given fighter though, especially if the division is deep.

Also there should probably be a rule that says you can only have one belt at a time.

seriously you should stop hanging from danas nuts.

im sure if dana said 185 didnt have a purpose n ufc gonna remove it, you would come here n tell everybody how good his idea is.

The colour of your Sherdog belt is related to how much time you spend posting in these forums, to me it's a bit like the higher the colour of your belt, the less chance there is that you have a job or a girl friend.

I think the bigger issue is, the possibility for HUGE weight differentials come fight night, and maybe a restructuring of the divisions might help cut down on that a little.

Not that it'll ever happen of course, but fun to think about a little

That doesn't make any sense. There is a need for MW because there are lots of fighters who peak at that weight.

If a "smaller MW" can cut 10 more pounds, then they could just cut 5 more and be a WW. "bigger MW" would still be undersized at 205.

I personally like the weight classes for MMA how they are now. A relabeling would be nice but the weights are fine.

    you have examples?

dan henderson, anderson silva, bisping, vitor, chael all fought in both

machdia n evns are supposed to make a move

    shogun could make a move

those are elites from their respective division.

you seriously think chris leben dont having a optimal weight class is nuff to justify having 185?
