Is there any validity to the claim that Jake Paul will raise the popularity of boxing?

If more people across the board are attracted to a sport then generally a greater deal of athletic people are too, and this means greater shows.

None of this is disputed... but can you really expect young people to get inspired by watching Jake Paul fighting senior citizens and washed up mma guys? Are people really impressed by him? Are they that gullible?

I know the kids at the local boxing gym who starts nowadays can name a bunch of youtubers who boxes but have no idea about who the boxing champs are today. They can name a bunch of youtubers who had boxing matches but have no clue who Mike Tyson is/was except if they heard about the fight against Paul.

It's possible. Us older fans don't like it, but boxing needs younger fans to carry it. In reality boxing needs Paul more then he needs boxing.

I dont think most of the interest in boxing from young people who like Jake Paul is gonna be either genuine or lasting in most cases.

Jake is a social media personality first and everything else second. He literally had to drag a senior citizen Mike Tyson out to fight in order to attract casuals. Most people nowadays dont know who the top boxers are, much less any boxer outside the top 10 p4p.

And boxing right now isnt in trouble per se, but its not nearly as popular in America as it used to be. Add into that the shenanigans of all the belt organizations and various state commissions and boxing isnt really doing itself any favors.

One can only hope that a few kids who hear about boxing from Jake Paul take up a genuine interest in the sport, whether its just watching it or participating in it
