Anderson Silva
Except he is elite bjj himself and Fitch showed how hard it is to finish someone with good sub defense even if you have dominant back control all fight. And Shields has elite defensive wrestling. He was reversing Maia on the ground constantly which is amazing.Shields and Fitch are very similar stylistically. Jake is not the "BJJ nightmare" fighter you're describing. In fact he is way more similar to the first type of fighter.
Maia is significantly better at WW. /QUOTE] You can say that all you want but you cannot prove it.
Quite frankly you have no idea what you are talking about. His wins at WW other then Fitch are all the same type of mid level fighter he dominated at MW. They are top 11-25 guys.As a mw he was a #1 contender, but other then Sonnen most of his wins are mid level fighters and his losses were very decisive.
Dan Miller, Kendal Grove, Jason MacDonald, Ed Herman were in or near the same positions as Rick Story and DHK. Maia's losses to Munoz and Weidman were not that much more decisive then his loss to Shields.
At MW he dominated more then 3 guys and Sonnen was and is arguably the 2nd best MW of that era just at the start of his best run.As a WW he dominated 3 guys (Fitch was top ten, DHK has shown that he is very legit), and lost a close decision.
You guess is not based on anything factual he has shown us at WW that he did not show us at WW. You are using pure fanboyism guessing. He will most likely end up having a very good run.
Maybe he will and maybe he wont. We simply do not know as he has not shown us that he is any better yet.
Kenny Florian was better at welterweight than he was at middleweight. and he was better at lightweight than he was at welterweight. and some would argue he was better at featherweight than he was at lightweight.
If he was at WW he would be king
