I keep hearing how brave Conor was for moving up Twenty pounds, but let me tell you something. I have friends with no fighting experience, who would fight Jon Jones right now, for little money. And they really believe they could win. Does that make them brave, or just crazy/stupid?

The truth is, you have to know your limitations, and not cross them. Conor didn't know his. He has never fought at 170, yet thought he could beat the Welter weight champ. He thought he could do it with 10 days to adjust, against a taller, longer opponent with large reach and strong chin. Conor thought he could really beat him or anyone else in that division. He doesn't even understand the risk. That's delusional, not brave.

Well your friends are stupid if they don't realize they don't have a chance. Conor is great fighter and the best featherweight. It was reasonable of him to think he could beat a middling lightweight

Conor goes up in weight:
-Big paycheck
-Glory
-If he loses, still FW champ and excuse of "well it wasn't even his weight class"

Conor defends belt:
-Less paycheck
-Less glory
-If he loses, no longer champ, no excuses

So I ask you OP, who doesn't understand the risks?

On 10 days notice, at a weight class he's never fought at, against a taller South paw, with a longer reach? It should have been at 155. Period. 155, or he finds someone else. The fact that he allowed Diaz set the terms, then even rose it to 170 like it was nothing? Come on.

He lost a great fight and had the onions to fight 25 lbs above his championship weight.
I think all fighters are both supremely brave and a little nuts too.....

If you think you can beat someone you clearly have very little chance against, you're insane
If you are willing to put your life on the line by fighting that someone to earn a check, you're brave
There is a shaded region as opposed to a line between bravery and insanity.

Calculated risk ... He took a shot, like he said. The sun still rose the day after. You have only failed the day you quit trying.

Chael going up to fight Jones was insanity. Conor vs Diaz is not.

Nice, rather than acknowledge the high degree of risk associated with what Conor did, you shit all over him. Why am I not shocked?

Insanity would be fighting at heavyweight. Bravery would be fighting Nate Diaz at 170.

Keep in mind, Nate Diaz was in a FIGHT.

Conor is not brave. He is a calcuated mercenary just like Sonnen. Run mouth and chase fights wherever the most money is.

OK, if it was such a ridiculous idea for Conor to take on Nate at 170, show us where you said that BEFORE the fight took place. Show us you saying it was "crazy" or "stupid" or some kind of strong wording like that.

Well the 10 days notice was in Conor's favor, and I don't know how you could seriously argue that it was unreasonable of him to think he couldn't beat a slightly larger fighter. Trying to compare it to your retarded friends is just asinine

"your friends" have far less to lose than conor. Plus how many of them pussy out when the reality of getting your ass kicked by a pro fighter in front of millions hits them? Alot of people say theyd do this or do that and probably piss themselves when its gets closer to that time
