Diego is cutting down to 145 for a fight with one of the top 145 in the world. Does this make sense? Diego is essentially a punching bag at this point and now he will likely be very depleted trying to get to 145 and will almost surely take a lot of punishment. IMO its not a good look to have one of the original tuf guys going out and getting lit up every fight. At this point he should be fighting guys well outside the top 10 no matter what division he fights at.

I agree and I don't like the match up. I'd rather see Diego in more "fun" fights at this point.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Cartwheel!!!!!!!

Diego should be forced to retire before he has brain damage. Most of his fights are wars and he takes a bit of a beating (even though he wins the decisions somehow). Fun to watch while he was fighting, but enough is enough.

Looks like the UFC doesn't think it is an issue since he doesn't get KTFO, but that's bullshit. Diego's chin is too good for is own health and they should retire him, his last legit win was Paulo Thiago in 2010. He should be on a 1-8 streak right now and treated as such.

Makes zero sense. 145 is way to low for him, and it is a pointless move at this stage in his career. It's not like he's going to get a title shot.

That ship has sailed.

In fairness, it's hard to tell because he's been weird for so long that it's anyone's guess at which point weirdness crosses over into just plain dumbness.

He has no business fighting a Top 5 Featherweight in Lamas, he's just too far past it. I just hope he doesn't get beaten too badly.

Lol wouldnt it be funny if he totally destroys Lamas, makes a title run, wins the strap and retires.....a diego fan can dream right?

This.

Dude has been a punching bag for awhile now. Had fights simply been scored accurately, he should have lost his last six fights in a row and that would make him 2-7 out of his last nine. That would be an accurate reflection of where he is currently as a fighter.

Nah. I just listened to his interview on MMA Hour. He actually had some good reasoning for moving to 145.

Basically it boiled down to he was sick of doing fights against taller opponents with longer reaches all the time where he had to get inside and grapple. He wanted to try fighting in a division where he was the same size or had longer reach so that he could use his striking more and depend less on his inside game.

wasn't he already a skeleton of himself at 155? in a sport where your opponent is literally trying to hurt you, you would think these athletes would take more precautions with their health. this is with no iv weight cut too right?

I wouldn't mind seeing him get squashed a few more times.

Diego Sanchez is joyriding in the beaten up carcass that is Diego Sanchez.
