Is the non-lethal weapon/tools segment of the market underutilized and underdeveloped?
You see all these cases of police brutality, fatal shootings, accidental discharges, so I just wondering are police not carrying enough non-lethal options. Like had Officer Liang had his hand on a taser or mace bottle, and then got startled, Akai Gurley will not have suffered a fatal wound but instead a burning face, or neuromuscular incapacitation. Why is his standard procedure to get his lethal weapon at the ready?
Is there a high powered tranquilizer dart gun that has range and precision? In the St Louis Mike Brown incident, if the cop instead of shooting him dead, had a dart gun, he could have just put him down sleeping. In the job of policing, you think cops need and will like more tools in between verbal sparring, and deadly force.
What other kinds of non lethal weapons and tools are there? Are civilians allowed to have them? Is there not a lot of investment and money being pumped into this segment?
