There are zero prospects.

Top 10 is full of re-treads from years ago.

The only division that's not progressing.

not sure why this thread got wastelanded since its the actual truth

There are tons of HW's much better than these guys out there, they get paid 20K/20K by WSOF or Bellator or OneFC though, why would UFC get those guys when they can pay 5K/5K or 10K/10K for these filler guys?

Don't insult fighters that would have you and your favorite fighter for breakfast.

No need to call Arlovski fat, if you are a mini guy.

Ehhh

It's just that there's more.

THere's more top fighters now but there's also more of the shitty ones.

Kinda the same thing in boxing if you think about it. The argument has always been that the best prospects these days at that size would rather train to play in the NBA or NFL. If they don't make it, then they usually try to get into coaching. The 6'3+ 220+ pound guys have things they can do that make more money consistently without getting punched in the face. The reason the smaller weight classes are always more competitive and filled with quality is that those cats don't have the same options. 5'6 135 pounds doesn't got the NFL's attention. I wouldn't hire a 5'7 145 pound guys as a bodyguard to the stars. They have to have something like mma or boxing to explore their athletic gifts. The big 6'4 250 pound boys have other options to exploit their size and gifts.

Arlovski vs. Mir for the title shot, yo.

Hw will always be tricky everyone has KO power.

And in this weight class, one shot can end your night.

this is the hardest division to find good guys...
it's shallow, and many of the top talent are getting old...

You're talking about a global sport where the main heavyweight champs don't live in countries that even know what NBA or NFL means.

200+ pounds isn't an athletic weight for most men in the world, that's the issue. It was all well and good when Tank Abbot was around, but the sport has become serious now and not just a bar brawl between big fat guys.

Heavy weight will always be thin bud. Big guy cardio is seriously hit and miss in nature lol..

what happened in boxing is the cold war ended and the former soviet countries were allowed in.

they have heavier hands.

It's sad watching the division crumble.

It was only several years ago that it was suddenly filled with talent and excitement. No one's there to replace the aging talent. Even the new guard are getting crimped by the old guard.

MMA pay scale is shit. If you're 6'5 and 300 pounds you can get paid more as a bodyguard. The HW new breed we were promised long ago never actually panned out. Hunt, Barnett, Arlovski, Werdum, Overeem, Rothwell are all still top 10 and the newer guys outside of Stipe, JDS, Cain are mostly just mid tier scrubs like Mitrione.

There is a big skill gap between the top 10 and the rest of the division at HW

You mean the open weight division? I.E: The division 99% of the UFC ducks because they know they'll get wrecked

Time for a TUF HW. Last one was a disaster though.

UFC signs tons of talented guys, they just mostly don't pan out. Ruslan Magomedov I believe will pan out and be top ten soon and he's 28 so there's one prospect out there.
