The old dog that can’t learn new tricks or did his pride cost him the fight? If I remember correctly, when he gets in trouble on the feet, he usually goes for take downs , so why did he ruin his last chances at the title? Did his pride get the best of him since he thought he was the more experienced striker, or was he rocked to the point that he was out of it, or did he wait too long to try?

Shogun has had an old man body for awhile now.

That’s why I’m excited for the return of VitorTRT.

It has nothing to do with his age

The game has evolved and he hasn't, look at his old fights in Pride he was never technical

I have and he never moved like a zombie then, game has evolved is such a stupid comment. DC is a two division champ by just being able to take punches and return them.

if shogun retired after machida 2 he would have one of the goat resumes in mma

The irony of this dumb ass comment is unreal

This post doesn't even need a response

Its on par with your stupidity.

Why do people ask questions when they already know the answer, does this really need explaining?

He's aged like a sack of shit unfortunately due to injuries, his style was always aggressive and explosive and he doesn't have that explosiveness now since his triple knee surgeries. Taking into account the amount of wars he's had also his ability to absorb shots is almost gone, he's never been very evasive but he could take a shot to give a one back, now the wars have caught up to him he can no longer hang in the pocket like he used to. At this point of his career his body is simply too shot to adjust his game to be more elusive, if he continues to fight he will win some lose some depending on who lands first, but it saddens me to say he will probably lose a fair share.

Still i'll always be a fan he's an absolute legend and a gent.

I don't think his pride got the best of him, I think PRIDE got the best of him.

Bad knees, that's it. He started losing around 29-30 years old because of them.

He still does, IMO. Losses when on a steep decline in later years usually don't hurt a fighter's legacy that much -- see for example Ezzard Charles in boxing.
