Can Shields use his superb grappling to beat GSP in a rematch? Or would it look exactly the same?

    He has nothing for GSP.

What's sad is that after tonight it's clear neither does Maia.

  3. You really want Georges to have an eye patch for the rest of his life, admit it.

Honestly, he does. GSP can't finish him (or anyone) and shields is always in close, ugly, dirty fights. His god awful stand up some how works. He technically out struck Georges last time and as much as GSP fans want to deny it, it was actually a close fight. If shields takes a round in the first 3, he would've won. Shields is a terrible striker but he somehow out strikes much better strikers

He's not a threat to GSP, and he never was.

Wow, you guys are dumb.. Obviously he was a threat at the time. He was on 15 fight win streak and had beat Hendo... drrrrrrrr.... Has he improved enough to get GSP into some compromising grappling positions?

Jake can't GSP down. GSP showed he can take shields down but likely doesn't want to. And yet this fight with Maia kind of showed the weaknesses in shields tank when involved in a grappling heavy fight so I think Georges would be more likely to initiate clinches and takedowns in this fight than in the first and try to wear jake down.

The first fight was close in the loosest sense of the term. Jake did his typical ugly kickboxing with a high work rate but definitely the most significant, damaging strikes of the fight (eye poke notwithstanding) were landed by st Pierre.

I loved that power jab he hit shields with and the head kick of course that floored shields and won GSP the fourth round.

You really don't think GSP could finish more fights if he wanted to? He's the best mma fighter alive, pal.

It only became a close fight after shields blinded him, as much as GSP haters try to deny it.

First fight was close, could go his way in the II but, I would need to see proof of some hand improvement and that he can finish his take down attempts efficiently.

You are the dumb one, because we already saw them fight. There was no threat.

I don't see it. GSP has stifled guys who are more explosive than shields even if they aren't as technically good wrestlers.

Shields best chance of winning in my opinion is doing what he did last time and hoping GSP work rate just plummets so shields can edge round. But what are the odds of that.

gsp's wrestling neutralizes jake's ability to use his bjj and jake's inability to strike allows gsp to use him as a punching bag.

Seems shields gets underrated alot around here. If he gets a couple more boring wins or an impressive win over a top 10 guy we might see shield vs gsp 2.... and even tho odds are gsp wins you couldnt count out shields he just might sneek a win
