There is so much said about jones and lot more said about how gus can or cant beat jones in a rematch...i ge the excitiment especially after the first fight between gus and jones...but do you think ppl are totally ignoring the fact that gus has to fight rumble jhonson before he gets to fight jones? Ppl are acting as rumble will be a walk in a park for gus....like jones said in the post fight interview...it is like disrespecting rumble...that guy is a beast in his own right..and is on a tear recently...any thoughts?

It's all about people who hate Jones and want to see him lose than people who like Gus. No single fighter has ever made a bigger name and career all from losing a single fight.

    I think Rumble KO's him

How so? He's fast, strong, has very good wrestling and can knock someone out in the blink of an eye. He's dangerous and isn't a walk in the park for anyone

I'm pretty confident Gus has the skillset to beat Johnson > 70% of the time.

Rumble always has the power to change any fight. His cardio looks much improved too. Rumble can really shake things up.

So silly to think Rumble is a walk in the park for anyone in LHW. Forget his WW resume....the dude is a wrecking force in this division. Damn....incredible he fought two divisions lower at one time.

I agree only if Gus can take Rumble down. If Gus can't it's going to be scary for him.

I'm leaning towards Gus in this fight, but I wouldn't refer to Rumble as a "non-factor" in any fight the way he's been looking lately.

imo not technical enough to beat gus. only way is if gus makes a big mistake and rumble is able to capitalize.

not sure if he could beat jones, but I could definately see him beating gus. The thing about a pressure fighter like rumble, is that he will stalk gus and everything rumble throws at gus, gus will feel, and have to respect. Whether it be kicks or punches. Gus is going to have to either stay on his movement, and keep it up for 5 rounds (this is even hard, because although rumble is a plodder, his strikes are actually quite speedy). Or gus will have to hit rumble with something he will respect, that will keep him from constantly coming forward. Personally I just don't think gus has the power.

not saying he doesn't have power, but I don't think he has the power to stop rumble.

I think a lot of people really want to see Jones/Gus II (me included!) and so are looking past Rumble. We'll see how he fares later this month.

even if rumble beats gus, i think he will be an easy match up for jones. Rumble is kinda similar to cormier, but just not as good.

even if gus get's rumble down, no way he holds him down, he's just not that strong. Put it this way: is gus a better wrestler than phil davis? is he physically stronger than phil davis?

the answer to both questions is no.
