So I noticed they resigned him to the UFC and for a "3rd degree" BJJ black belt, he's been submitted 4 times and out grappled a hand full of times.

Last time I remember him in the UFC, Fitch easily sunk in a RNC, Roan practically just gave it to him. Looking at his record his last loss he got armbarred by a random guy named Tommy Depret.

His UFC profile also says he's even won a few BJJ tournaments. So what's the deal with this dude?

You're a black belt till you get punched in the face.

    That changes the whole equation.

I think I remember when he fought Anderson years ago, he was laying in Anderson's guard, NOT being punched, while Anderson just sweeped him with ease landing in the full mount and he tapped shortly afterwards. I know that it was early in his career but he's still getting tapped all these years.

    Questionable IMO.

Ask Mark Munoz if he ever wakes up.

Yeah I recall that guy (beat Rumble by eyepoke) was giving him fits off his back and locked up a sub. I recommend anyone to watch it as it's a great technical fight

    Edit: it was Kevin Burns

No offense but Mark Munoz is a bum. He always gets himself tapped or KO'd (he even kneed himself one time via Matt hamil).

It definitely does make it easier to get tapped by lesser grapplers, but I wouldn't say anyone cause you are very unlikely to ever see Werdum, Jacare, or Maia getting tapped by an MMA guy.

its because how good their mma game is around that jiu jitsu. If Werdum, jacare and Maia weren't the great mma fighters they are even they can get tapped in the cage. In a similar way a superior striker can get kod in the cage by a lesser striker.

Is Alistair Overeem really a K-1 champion? He's been KO'd on the feet by Rothwell, Browne, and Bigfoot and out struck multiple times.

What's the deal with this dude?

It doesn't matter what level of belt you are, that's just Jiu-Jitsu only. MMA is a different ball game. Anyone can get submitted. I remember when Wagney Fabiano entered the WEC, he was a 2nd degree black belt (I believe), highly touted as an amazing submission fighter, and gets easily submitted a few fights in by Mackens Semerzier, and later by Benavidez.

To be fair Reem was able to block a lot easier in K1 with the huge gloves. Also Reem is no K1 champ if Hari would have been there that year.

Overeem getting KO'd by a 265 hw with 4oz gloves compared to

a BJJ black belt getting triangled in a blue belt's GUARD, fighting on 2 weeks notice working a full time job, Kevin Burns. What kind of black belt gets the TD, advances to the top position that he wants and still manages to get tapped?

    What's the deal with you?
