not sure how i feel about making controversial threads just for effect
In fairness, I don't think they planned on Boba Fett becoming some super cool darling of the fans years later, and was probably written as some 3rd tier underling to be dispatched of.
I don't know if pointing to the abomination that Lucas tried to bury, points to them thinking Boba Fett was gonna be a big deal. It's not like they had no clue how popular Boba Fett was going to be. His debut was in the Holiday Special
We all know Empire Strikes Back is the Masterpiece of all the Star Wars films.
But what do you think of Return of the Jedi is it up there, even better than the A New Hope?
I just recently watched this with my nephew and we both agreed ROTJ is better A New Hope.
Not by much, but nevertheless it is the superior movie.
The battle sequences, especially the space one is just incredible.
The sequences with the emperor is riveting.
The only thing that was off about ROTJ is Ewoks, but I get them. They are like vietnamese soldiers who find a way to win a war they probably shouldn't have one.
Oh yeah the fight sequence with Luke at Tatooine was badass, he took on everyone.
But anyways I'd give it a 9/10. Just short of a masterpiece.
And...
*They killed Boba Fett's appeal by having him scream like a bitch, while getting accidently killed by a half-blind Han.
*C3P0 is, by far, even more annoying in this one than the other two in the OT.
*Piss-poor plan by Luke to get Han&Leia out from Jabba's clutches. In fact it was practically luck... and getting Han back took 1/3rd of the movie although he was practically irrelevant to the rest, which was...
*A 2nd Death Star? Seriously? "Oh just build another one?"
RoTJ has the best few moments of the trilogy with Luke, Vader, and Palpatine scenes... and ALL of the trilogy worst moments.
You must admit, not every change Lucas did was bad.
A New Hope if definitely better, and much more consistent. Jedi has a great opening and closing, but the middle part really drags. The ewoks are a bit silly, but really the whole Endor segment is just plain boring outside of the speeder chase. Han Solo does absolutely nothing in the movie, doesn't even fly the Falcon in the last battle. What was the point of saving him at all? And another Death Star? Really? Lucas ran out of ideas by the third one?
Jedi also got some of the worst 'special edition upgrades' in the trilogy. The cgi song and dance number in Jabba's palace is pain inducing and embarrassing to watch. Adding Vader saying 'NOOOOOOOOOO!' right before he saves Luke from the emperor is fucking criminal and completely ruins the scene. The last thing the movie needed was a call back (errr call forward?) to the most unintentionally hilarious moment in Revenge of the Sith. The changes and additions that Lucas made to original trilogy are completely baffling and made all the worse due to his efforts to erase the original versions from existence.
Haha. When did George and co. add that “Nooo!” In ROTJ. When I recently rewatched it, I was doubting my senses as to whether or not that had been there all along. Completely threw me off. But I don’t remember that being part of the Special Edition back in ‘97.
theres a few more pics from that i believe it was a Rolling Stone shootView attachment 1096683View attachment 1096684
