2 tsps has 7 grams of protien so it's a quick and easy way of getting protien. There doesn't seem to be any preservatives added to it either.

What do you guys think?

Natural Peanut Butter is healthy. That Skippy and Jif shit is crazy loaded with salt, sugar, and trans fats.

Getthe natural stuff, PB is loaded with healthy Omega three fats and is a quick shot of protein, and PB sandiwch on whole wheat bread is a complete meal.

No, peanut butter is loaded with Omega 6's. Not 3's.

It typically has to be added to the PB brands that say they contain Omega 3's.

Thanks, I've tried the natural stuff before, tasted horrible. If you leave it around for a long time all the fat floats to the top.

when you buy the natural stuff, and the fat floats to the top... is it good or bad to drain it?

just wondering if draining it gets rid of the good stuff...

The oil always settles to the top when the natural PB is at room temperature. After you buy it, give it a good stir and incorporate the oil back in. Then refridgerate. If you stirred it well enough, it won't separate again.

Yep.

I don;t know about a PB sandwich being a complete meal. I see about 7g protien, which isn't even 10% RDI for most people. I take 2 tablespoons of PB, 5 tbspn. Dry Cottage Cheese and a banana.

Protien: 30 grams
Carbs: 27 grams
Fat: 18 grams

Good afternoon snack.

Also, if your into a change of taste, and don't mind spending the extra couple of bucks, try Almond butter (really good/healthy) or cashew butter. I tried a mix of the 2 the other day and it was really good. Macro nutrients were pretty much the same as all natural peanut butter.

Obviously buy the natural stuff as many have pointed out. It is the unly peanut butter I eat. You will hear people complain about all the fat in peanut butter. It is true there is a lot of fat, but it is not a bad type of fat. However, if you are overweight, peanut butter is probably not the best place to get your protein. If you are naturally thin or on a high calorie diet anyway because of an intense workout regime, then peanut butter is perfect. Remember that peanuts are a legume (the same as beans) they are not really a nut. Legumes are considered by most nutritionist to be the most healthful food on earth.

The natural penut butter is the way to go. I think that it taste's better than the jiffy crap too. You can also find it at wal-mart now.

I saw that JIF makes a "natural" peanut butter now. Anyone seen this or tried it out? I want the natural stuff, but I burn through peanut butter too fast to spend 5 bucks for a jar that only lasts me about 3 days.

This was discussed recently on sci.med.nutrition (a usenet newsgroup, see google groups). The consensus was that almond, cashew and walnut butters are much healthier. Of course, raw and with nothing added.

Don't drain the oil. It says to mix it in. When I buy it I leave it upside down so it mixes it through instead of leaving it all on the top.

not the trans fat, get the no fat or reduced fat and it is ok

They carry all-natural peanut butter at costco around here, 5 bucks for a 2 pack. I have about 6 jars in my house right now, can't get enough of the stuff. If you haven't tried it, add some in with chocolate whey next time you make a protein drink, tastes fantastic.

In short, in moderation, yes ... PB will load you up on some good fat and protein ...

I think this is the reason I have gained some weight haha
I thought that PB was great, but
a. I used to grocery stuff, from Calve

59,1
