    Sounds like a very strong willed man and you should be proud of him! His actions say nothing about your will or anyone else in your families though, each person should stand on their own and not define their identity by what someone else did, no matter how noble.

    totally agree with OP.

    In America people actually can have a living, in a lot of countries you are basically a slave.
    But people still complain. They should be happy and proud.

    I live in Belgium, my deceased grandparents were born in WO 1 and lived in the WO2.
    What people had to do to survive...
    What people had to do to build up their lives again...

    But instead of complaining about racism and discrimination and all that other BS, they actually builded up our country and our lives.
    Somehow some people cant do that and choose to complain and think they have a right on something.
