I've been of the opinion now much more lately then ever, that Nick Diaz resume aside, is one of the most talented and well verse fighters ever in mma histroy, i'm of the opinion that in a fight with no rounds he would hold his own against all of the greats from 170-185 pounds. Thoughts/opinions, agree or disagree?

Nick Diaz highlight video:

Respectfully DISAGREE

I reckon he's very durable though but feel not many guys have tried to really take it to him.

But I am a fan of nasty nate.

I love Nick, but I don't agree about the no rounds thing. There have been fights before where wrestlers have gotten him down and he's been unable to get up. Imagine if he fought GSP in a fight that was, say, 1 round of 30 minutes with no stand-ups or anything. GSP would simply be on top of him pummeling him for the duration, likely resulting in a stoppage.

On the other hand, PRIDE rules or something similar to PRIDE rules would probably be more favorable to Diaz.

I like Nick, but his best wins are a past his prime BJ coming off back to back losses at LW and paul Daley. He's exciting but he never really accomplished much.

hmm i suppose you are probably right, but lets just assume he was able to last through the ground and pound, easier said then done right, his cardio might allow him to slowly take control of the fight and reverse the position and possible go for a submission

He is so much fun to watch but he has been laid on and beaten too many times to be considered an all time great. All time greats like gsp and jones impose their will and don't allow lay and prey to beat them

He's a very good fighter, but I do not think he is an all time great.

i see where you are coming from but you must understand the definition of a win in a mma contest is 3 people saying they preferred your method of victory, me personally i've always sided with nick in alot of the close decisions because of the octagon control, many of his losses are because of his opponents passive style and in a fight with no rounds passiveness would only result in a long drawn out loss.

P4P greats do things like beat the top guys in their division. So... no.

i'm a fan of nick and i always enjoy watching him fight, but nick's no pound for pound great.

Unfortunately, no. He is a solid fighter for sure but I feel like he hamstrung himself through most of his career with everything outside the cage.

It endeared him to many and in a way made him a legend in the sport. But it did hurt his opportunities.

And realistically he has some obvious holes in his game.

hes the guy nobody can truly beat its a good thing theres only 5 rounds cuz it would suck if people had to outpoint him for 10 rounds or pull a condit for 10 rounds would make bad tv

Hes a pound after pound great for sure. The green champion. Id consider him an all time great in the bracket of guys who just want to fight as opposed to compete. There are many athletic strategizing competitors in MMA. Nick is not one, hes old school and
just wants to throw down. That type is becoming much more rare and for that I respect both him and his little bro. Thats how I view him anyway.
