Is Nate Diaz the 5th best lightweight in the UFC?

    If Cowboy was then surely Nate is? Nate just beat #5 ranked LW with no problems after a year layoff.

    No. 13-8 in the UFC. Lost 3 of his last 5 badly. He barely fights anymore. He's in the 12th-15th range.

    He looked good in his last fight and he could climb the ranks if he stays busy, but he's never earning a title shot again (which is not to say he won't be gifted a few).

    He's probably just outside the top 5 but he is definitely capable of beating higher ranked fighters.

    Based on the MJ fight, he's close.

    Virtually everyone was writing him off prior to that fight, saying Johnson was at an entirely different level, going to light him up on the feet, etc., etc...

    If he's had a good camp, he can hang with almost anyone, save for maybe the top 3 or 4 guys (RDA, Ferguson, Khabib).
