But anyway,
In every sport you've got great nicknames, from football to basketball to baseball to boxing. You've great nicknames across all these sports such as: Magic, The Great Bambino, His Airness, El Guapo, Mean Joe, The Bus, Dr. J, The Black Mamba etc etc etc. The list goes on and on.
In MMA, probably because of pro-wrestling/boxing influence, every fighter has a nickname and 99.9% of them are absolute shit.
We've had some decent ones in the past
The Last Emperor was very fitting, as a prospect Rush was almost perfect, the Spider seem to become more and more appropriate as Anderson aged, The Iceman was great if you consider how Chuck would calmly state before fights he was going to fuck a dude up, The Axe Murderer, Tank, Babalu, Rampage. But these are all old school guys who don't really compete at the highest levels anymore if at all.
What are some of the best current ones? Most fighters have shit ones like Pitbull and various kinds of assassins.
I have fondness for Uncle Creepy, the Korean Zombie and Bones (which I think is probably one of the best ones out there considering it's history), and of course Jacare but largely the nickname game has fallen off.
