I think when his career is over pundits will look at the math of his career numbers and say yeah or course he's hall of famer. He never won, played matador defense most of his career and never made people better around him. His scoring wasn't as prolific as harden who at least has the balloon numbers to compensate for not winning.
I know he will get in probably even first ballot but as a Knicks fan I'm telling you guys he was hard to root for and didnt do squat for our team other than make us relevant for 2 years. Outside of this year with all the young talent and tibs, the greatest moments Knicks fans have had innthe last decade was 3 weeks in 2012 during Linsanity. Melo never had any juice in that building after the first few years.

Nuggets went to playoffs every year after melo was drafted after not making them in several years. They only made it to conference finals once but he was definitely the type of player that got you a lot of regular season wins. With his stats there is no way he isnt a hofer.

HOF? Yes
All time great? No
Top 20 all time? No
Top 30 all time ? No
31-50 somewhere? Career similar to Nique without the highlights so yes

Anybody who says No is a contrarian or just outright can

Webb slam dunks him out the building and to the G League...

Melo >>>> Harden

By miles. Melo carried the USA teams he played on. It's embarrassing that was even required.

He's a chucker who had very little impact on winning despite being the #1 option for most of his career.

Non HOF IMO

It is possible that Carmelo will end up in the top 10 for career NBA points when he is done (he is less than a full season of games away at his current scoring clip).

That alone would do it, regardless of his other accomplishments...and despite not being the guy that many of us would choose to build a team around.

Yeaahhhhh he is.

It’s more of a testament to him much the basketball HOF sucks.

Melo was a fun player and great scorer with serious longevity. But that’s about it. He put in more effort for the Olympics than the NBA.

yeah absolutely he is, its pretty unquestionable especially when you compare him to others already there

In terms of the basketball HOF yes, yes he is. Carmelo's got 26k points, he's in and he's probably above average for a HOF'er too.

If there's even a discussion that's usually a yes. Whose the best retired player not in the NBA hall? Chris Webber? Gilbert Arenas?

The whole "Melo was bad in the playoff argument falls apart upon closer inspection. Melo's Nuggets came closer to beating Kobe's Lakers at his peak in 09 than people want to give him credit for. That was Kobe at the peak of his powers too. His best Knicks team also had LeBrons best team in his way too(Big 3, Allen, Mike Miller, Rashad Lewis holy shit) even if the Pacers hadn't upset them(and we want to laugh at Paul George that team almost beat the Heat).

Sure Melo's playstyle is inefficient and today might even be obsolete but that wasn't the case when he played. He was a fucking force. The game's evolution left a lot of incredible players like Dwight Howard looking bad that doesn't mean they aren't legends.

Feel people be taking football or baseballs high standards and applying it to basketball.

Like in Melos prime look at the teams that bounced his in the first round. There's a reason he only had a few deep playoff runs. Heck KD only got to the NBA finals once in the West. Having a mid to low seed in the West was going to be tough even the Mavs in 2011 had the 3 seed.

07-Spurs(Nuggets actually won 1 more game than the Cavs did in the finals if Nuggets were in the East it's not impossible they'd be in the Finals)
08-Lakers
10-Jazz
11-Big 3 Celtics
12-Big 3 Heat
