Is Meisha Tate Her Own Worst Enemy?

After watching last night's fight I've come to the conclusion that while Meisha Tate is tough as hell she is delusional as well. In her zeal for victory, I think she cannot correctly assess the situation when she is in a fight.
Case in point her fight with RR, she was done when she got caught in that second armlock. Instead of tapping and conceding defeat, she chose to not to tap and continue fighting which led to her needing surgery and extending the time she was out of training and MMA. Which was pointless because RR had her arm wrapped around her thigh like a garter belt. At that point most logical people would have raised the white flag.
Her fight against Cat I thought she won the first two rounds, but I knew Cat's size, strength, superior stand up, and jitz would eventually wear her down. The first two rounds she was active in striking,TD attempts, and submission attempts. By the third round after Cat had taken her down with the double leg, Tate was getting beat up on the bottom taking heavy shots from Alpha Cat. After she got blasted from those knees and followup elbow she was offering little resistance not attacking and not defending herself. After watching the replay many times, I don't think she was in full control of her faculties especially her shot attempt, she looked like she had no coordination left and just fell to the mat.
Her cries of "I was still in the fight." is ridiculous, she was getting her ass handed to her and she should just acknowledge that Cat beat her fair and square. I believe she is also doing Winslow a disservice as well, Winslow saved her from taking any more unneccessary abuse. If the fight had continued, Cat would have simply establish top position and Tate would have eaten more elbows and punches.

She told Caraway he was up 2 rounds and to coast when he had clearly lost one round. Then demands Dana give him his win bonus because he got "robbed."

She still goes on about how she deserves more credit that Rousey for making the fight exciting because she refused to tap....bitch what?

Her fucking twitter bio is more about Rousey than it is about Tate.

She'll probably say she needs a rematch with Zingano and they can't tape TUF until she gets it.

The girl has insane determination but it's traveling into stupidity.

Actually her fight plan was pretty good, and tailor made for the situation. She was going to come out super aggressive and overwhelm her less experienced opponent, and get an early stoppage. She just didn't quite get it done. The first round was probably the most impressive single round Miesha Tate has ever fought.

It's easy to criticize fighters decisions during an extremely high pressure situation, from your computer a day after the fact.

Even though I think the stoppage was ok, I can also see why Tate wanted to continue. I think she could have continued too, but not for much longer-so she's technically right.

and of course she's stubborn. she's a top level wmma fighter. You have to have tunnel vision to achieve your goals sometimes.

I think she should have showed more composure in the 3rd round('coasted' even, to coin one of her own phrases) but that's easy to say in hindsight for us knowing she was 2 rounds up on two of the scorecards.

As for her entire attitude - yes, she often is her worst enemy. She is super-talented, super-tough but needs to look at things more objectively and take responsibility for her defeats. If she did that right now, while Ronda & Cat are tied to being in Vegas for TUF, she could use her FOTN money to travel around the world and work on the holes in her game(working on some Muay Thai would be a great idea, in my opinion).

By the time Ronda and Cat fight(December, I assume), she could have a big win under her belt(against Carmouche or Kaufman, perhaps?) and be in the mix for a title shot again.

To summarise - she should accept this defeat, let it go, take a vacation then work on the holes in her game so she can come back better than ever. Her talent and toughness can have her in the top 3 of this division for a long time to come, as long as she has the right attitude.

Ive seen fights in similar situations not been stopped ,but im not against it she may of been able to survive to the end of the round or she may of been stopped,the refs job is to protect the fighter plain and simple.

Though I have to say that's the first time ive seen zingano fight and I wasn't impressed she seemed to back up a lot when tate put pressure on her,when ronda runs at her for her throw if she backs up against the cage she is going down and will be submitted in under 2 minutes.

She was getting takedowns too but it seemed like after a few good punches connect she was going for a takedown instead of trying to KO Cat. Idk, it's easy to say that from the computer but I just thought that her striking looked superior for the first 2 rounds and that she could have dropped CAt and then finished her

I heard that as well and lol'ed, remembered immediately how she told him in his fight that he had won 2 rounds, and he then lost the decision in the end. Because that guy is screwing her, he gets to be her coach, even though he is trash and will get cut any day now. She is a crap fighter and has serious issues, worries much more about looks than fighting. What sane fighter would change her nickname from "Takedown" to "Cupcake"?

Caraway isn't awful, even though he's a dick. Gave Takeya a good fight, and he's fringe top 10 if not at the low end.

Tldr.

That being said Tate's three biggest problems are:

1.Singing in the cage while snapping her fingers.

2.Not changing her fight name from cupcake to better fit her new home in the UFC.

3. Her striking almost made me puke.

I agree. It was mostly faulty gameplanning. They over-estimated Cat's striking and under-estimated her ground game. Tate landed several got shots, had Cat reeling, and then she goes for the takedown. I was yelling at the tv for her to get up and strike.
